Mending A Broken Heart

Chapter 3

Trisha sighed as the meeting came to an end. She was happy to be out of the eye of all those perverted men. There was always one who make her feel uncomfortable, and she hated herself for wearing the fitted black dress today. She tried her best not to snap on Mr. Carter, who kept licking his lips at her while she was talking. He was creepy, and he always made it a point to stop by her office every time that they have a meeting. She knew that today would not be any different. She stacked her papers together, and quickly scurried out of the office.

Augustine watched as Tricia walked out of the office. Her hips swayed as she scurried away quickly. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion, but realization quickly set in as he watched Mr. Carter file out of the room behind her. Mr. Carter was pesky old man. He had a thing for younger women, and he always made it a mission of his to get with a woman at Augustine's company. He had been with his last Business Administrator. It was one of the reasons he fired her to begin with. He found the two of them having sex in the office, and after that he sent her packing.

Pushing his chair from under the table, he stood abruptly. Those who were still in the room looking at him strangely before turning back to the conversations. Quickly making his way to Trisha's office, he stopped when he heard the two speaking. Trisha stood on one side of her desk, and Mr. Carter stood on the opposite side. His eyes raked over her body making her once again feel uncomfortable. He smiled and said, "For five months you have been playing games. Do you think it wise to continue to ignore me?"
"I have not been ignoring you. I just simply am not interested in you."
"You think you're too good for me? I get any woman I want, and I don't take no for an answer."
"Well that's the answer you're going to get. Now leave my office," Trisha said pointing towards the door. Mr. Carter smiled and walked around her desk. Trisha backed up until her butt hit her desk. She could feel his breath on her neck as he closed the space in between them.

Fear filled her eyes as she looked at the old man. Before he could touch her, the door opened. Mr. Carter jumped back, and smoothed his suit out like nothing happened. Augustine's eyes were dark, but it quickly faded as he looked at the scared face of Trisha. Her arms were wrapped around her body. Concerned filled him as he looked her over. Turning back to Mr. Carter, Augustine straightened his demeanor, and asked, "Mr. Carter could I speak for you outside for a moment?"
"Just a moment."
"I believe right now would be best," Augustine spoke with authority. Mr. Carter nodded and headed out of the office. He looked back over his shoulder, and smiled devilishly at Trisha.

As they approached Augustine's office, he tried hard not to bash Mr. Carter's face in. He couldn't believe that he was trying to push up against Trisha. Against her will at that. As his door shut, he turned quickly so that he was face to face with Mr. Carter, who jumped back as a response. Anger pulsed through Augustine's body as he spoke, "If I ever hear you speak to Ms. Lawler like that again. You can forget about any business you and I have together."
"Why do you care? It's not like I've never been with anyone in your company before."
"This is your only warning. If I ever hear you speak to her, outside of business, you can forget about any business you and I have."
"You're gonna cancel our business deals over a piece of ass? Damn she must really be good. I can't help it if all the women want me."
"Get the hell out of my office. Now," Augustine's booming voice rang throughout the office. Mr. Carter froze before turning on his heels and walking towards the elevator.
