*Angeline's POV

All of us first years walked into the Great Hall, absolutely amazed by the lighting, the floating candles, the ghosts, and of course, we cannot forget the ceiling. I heard Hermione start to yammer on about her readings. "Its not real, the ceiling. Its just bewitched to look like the night sky. I read about it in 'Hogwarts; A History." She said simply.

We continued to walk down the aisle way, but I had soon noticed the current inhabitants of Hogwarts were either smiling, glaring, or just looking in a bored manner toward us. Once we all got to the end of the walkway, there was an old, brown witches hat resting on a stool, of which Professor McGonagal then stood next to.

"When I call your name, each of you will come up here and take a seat, then, you will be sorted into your house. "Hermione Granger." She called after opening the scroll of names. Hermione was directly behind me, and started to walk timidly up the stairs, and towards the stool.

"Okay. Relax." I heard her whisper to herself. Letting out a silent giggle, I noticed I stood right beside Draco Malfoy. Well, he stood next to me, considering he hadn't been there when I first had gotten there. The hat took a small bit of time for Hermione, before it yelled, "GRYFFINDOR!" The Gryffindor table cheered as Hermione happily hopped over to them and took her rightful seat. "Draco Malfoy." McGonagal called out next.

Draco smiled at me the tiniest bit, whether it was sincere or not, it was still a smile. He then walked up to the stool like he always does. That swagger walk. Dear Lord, that boy. I'm tellin' ya'. He hardly sits down, having the hat barely lower at all, when it yelled, "SLYTHERIN!" Draco smirked directly at me, and I only narrowed my eyes at him. He went and sat down at the Slytherin table.

After a while, about seven kids had been sorted, when my name was finally called. "Angeline Lynne." McGonagal stated, looking at me. I collected and gathered myself, becoming mentally ready for my sorting. Sitting onto the stool, the hat was placed onto my head. "Ah...A Lynne...The last time I'd seen one of you was when your father was sorted in his first year. Smart man, he was, though quite ambitious too, yes...A Slytherin. You are much like him....along with having the blood of Salazar Slytherin, himself run through your vanes...you would be perfect for that house. Ah, but also quite clever, very witty, you are....yes. Much like your mother...A Ravenclaw. Should we put you there...? Oh...but do I detect bravery...? Yes...and lots of it too....Difficult...very difficult. You are also very loyal to those who you trust...and those, whom of which you care about. The Hufflepuff house could also be an option...yes..." The hat went on.

I was beginning to think I was never going to get sorted, when the hat finally asked me my opinion. "Though...I must take your thoughts into account as well...what house are we going to put you in...?" It asked me. 'Whichever that will lead me to success, and that of which will help me do so through life.'  I mentally told the hat. I felt it's thought once more. "It is either Slytherin or Gryffindor..." The hat says to me. I kept thinking that either one is which one I'd be fine with being in. "Alright. Then it better be....GRYFFINDOR!" The hat shouted.

Everyone looked surprised. Even the professors. The hall was silent as I walked down and sat next to Ron, who had been sorted a couple people before me. Professor McGonagal cleared her throat, and continued on with the Sorting Ceremony.

"What the bloody hell was that about?" Ron whispered to me, Harry and Hermione then looking to me also. "What was what about...?" I asked, thoroughly confused as to what he was going on about. "We could hear everything the hat was saying, mate." Ron confirmed. "What? I mean...that doesn't happen. Right? That...can't happen? Can it?" I asked, my eyebrows fully furrowed. "I dunno....but it did." Harry whispered, shaking his head in confusion.

Looking over to the Slytherin table, I match a pair of piercing blue eyes, looking at me in also, utter confusion. But also some betrayal. I gave him the, 'I dunno..' look, and he nodded once.

That was so strange....
