"The secret to committing more to a man is that such be found faithful in whatever he is being given"
This is one of the basic teachings we need to learn in the body of Christ and it is a serious teaching. For this writing not to be long have decided to break it into parts so that we can be able to read it well. We must understand that a man that is not ready to be accountable for anything is not ready to be a faithful stewards. No man is ready to commit anything to a man that is not faithful. In our world today we lack men who are actually faithful but we must seek to pursue faithfulness at all cost. Let's consider
WHO IS A STEWARD?
A Steward is someone placed in charge of a thing or who manages a thing either permanently or temporarily. If we understand this definition then lets see ourselves in it. The Bible now says it is required that a steward be found faithful
1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
It is important that a steward be found faithful. What led to this conversation was a continuation of what Paul was saying that he plants while Apollos waters but God give the increase. So he now said it is important that they should faithful because they are both ministers of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God
1 Corinthians 4:1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
Believers must understand that they are stewards in God's vineyard and we all need to be found faithful in what is committed to us because God knows our several abilities, just like the parable of the talents
Matthew 25:15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
We remember that the master gave them talents according their several ability and then he expected them to be faithful in it but what did he met when he came back from journey, two of them were faithful with what was committed to their care by trading with with it and one word their master said to both of them was "thou good and faithful servant..."
Matthew 25:19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
25:20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
25:22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
The truth about being faithful stewards is that much will be committed to us as we are being found faithful in what is committed to us. So we saw the last servant that was not faithful in what was committed to him and then what he has was taken from him to be given to another person who was faithful
Matthew 25:24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25:25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
25:26 His lord answered and said unto him, THOU WICKED AND SLOTHFUL SERVANT, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
25:27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
25:28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
The excuse the servant gave for not being committed was not a good one and the master called him a wicked and slothful servant. To be wicked stewards is when we don't learn to be faithful in what is committed to our care.
