"It is not enough to be faithful stewards we need to become wise faithful stewards"  -Danbeki Rika

We have discussed to a measure on how to become faithful stewards(you can use our search engine to find the article). We see through the word of God that we need to also be a faithful and a wise steward. But the truth is the scripture has placed demands on being faithful and so it's pose to us the question who is a faithful and wise steward?

Matthew  24:45 WHO THEN IS A FAITHFUL AND WISE SERVANT, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

And we saw in a place that who can we find a faithful man?

Proverbs  20:6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

So in relating this scriptures together let's see

HOW TO BECOME A FAITHFUL AND A WISE STEWARD

(1) To give portion of meat in due season

Luke  12:42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, TO GIVE THEM THEIR PORTION OF MEAT IN DUE SEASON?

It takes a wise steward to be able to apportion meat in due season, this tells that as stewards one must understand the time and not to walk as fools.

Ephesians  5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

If you have been to poultry you will observe that they know how to give or apportion food for their chickens, in fact to their various stocks they know what food they should give them and this tells that we must understand the meat to give to our flocks in due season then Jesus said to Peter if you love me feed my flock

John  21:16  He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

We must understand also that as we feed His flock we must know how and when to give portion of meat to people in due season that's why Paul said when he came to the Corinthian church he could not feed them with meat but with milk

1 Corinthians  3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

3:2 I HAVE FED YOU WITH MILK, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

So he understood their state and then fed them with that which is due for them in that season until they come up to maturity. This tells that we must understand the state and the season that they are so that we won't give that which may arm them.

(2) To be committed to doing the master's will

Luke  12:43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh SHALL FIND SO DOING.

Shall find so doing what? In feeding the household of God with their portion of meat in due season. A faithful wise steward understands the will of God and then walk in them by committing himself to doing them. No wonder scriptures says to understand what the will of the Lord is

Ephesians  5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

We become committed to God's work as stewards when we understand what the will of the Lord is and then doing them in the due season.

(3) Understand that you're accountable to God and to men.

Luke  12:45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

12:46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

12:47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

Romans  14:12  So then every one of us shall give ACCOUNT OF HIMSELF TO GOD.

1 Corinthians  4:1  LET A MAN so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

(a) Being accountable to God

We should never live our lives as people that are not accountable to anybody but we must understand that we are accountable to God and to men. Jesus  speaking about the faithful and wise steward, the one that knew the will of his master and the one that does not know it, then he took us to how they will receive stripes by not doing what they know and also them that will receive stripe by not knowing the will of their master. Now this point to the truth that as stewards our hearts must be engaged with the will of God and then be committed to doing it, there is no space for ignorance. We are accountable to God as stewards of God, in fact what makes a steward is that he is accountable, the reason for choosing him in the first place is to make him accountable to that which will be committed to his care. In our walk with God we are so accountable to Him because it is an individual thing and so we must be accountable by being faithful and wise stewards.

(b) Being accountable to man

Let me stay on being accountable to man for a while, the truth is if we are not accountable to men scriptures would not have placed it there for us. We are accountable to men of God, our spiritual fathers or our church leaders especially them that watch over our souls and we must obey them and also submit to them.

Hebrews  13:17  Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

So the account they give of us must be true and must be with joy and not with grief. The account that men should give of us should not be with crying or grief of the heart but with joy, then scripture says to be accountable to them that watches over us is profitable to us. I love to do what is profitable to me. We must know that we are not just to live our lives as orphans claiming we have Jesus as our Father and that's enough and that's not true, when we walk by that we live by the half revelation of God's word and it will not be profitable to us until we come to the full knowledge of God's Word then our profiting will to appear to all and to ourselves. So we are accountable to men and that's what make us a faithful and wise steward and much more we are accountable to God.
