Back in time

meeting old friends

I still had my eyes shut when I heard a man say "you just don't know when to give up do ya" I opened my eyes and I was in a back ally I looked over to see where the noise was coming from and from what I could see there was a big guy beating up a smaller guy and thought that's not right so I marched over to the taller guy

"Hey leave him alone!"

"butt out sweetheart I'm not afraid to hit a girl!"

I then saw the boy face down on the ground I sure hope he was okay. the taller man kept egging him to get up and making fun of him, quite frankly I have had enough so I opened my big mouth again.

"didn't your mamma tell you to be a good boy."  just as I said that the small boy got up just in time to see the guy that had been beating him up turn around and "try" to throw a punch at me, I caught his fist in my hand

"I'm guessing your mamma didn't teach you to respect girls either." he was too shocked to move when I caught his fist I guess you're going to find out what its like to be on the other end of the fist today"

WHAM!!!!!

the man ran out of the ally holding his jaw, poor guy i probably broke it i said to myself.

I was taken from my thoughts when I heard a voice. a deep voice actually. say thank you I then realized wait I know that voice, I whipped around to see my dad standing right behind me the only thing different was he was short and frail I turned around wide-eyed I think he could tell I was shocked because he took it the wrong way

"yeah I get that reaction a lot especially from girls," he said while brushing the dirt off himself.

"No I didn't mean to give the wide eye but you, you actually remind me of someone"

"really who? their other guys just as pathetic as me."

wouldn't say pathetic, actually, the guy you remind me of is quite strong, he stands up to bullies just like you just a little bit bigger bullies"

"he someone close to you?"

"yes actually without him I wouldn't be here right now."

"so he's your dad,"

"ha-ha yeah one could say that"

"Does he fight in the war?"

"Yeah well, he did..."

"I'm sorry to hear that"

"don't be he was a good fighter"

"well, I'm not necessarily a kid anymore even though I may look like one... I'm actually 21"

"well if your 21 your still pretty young I think"

"how old are you kid?"

"I'm 16."

"really I kinda figured you'd be a little older? well seeing your outfit and all you look like a responsible young working woman."

"Why thank you. by the way, what is your name?

"Steve Rogers. and you are?"

"Athena.  Athena uh Presley"

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Athena Presley."

"Just then out of the corner of my eye I saw someone enter the ally he was tall he was wearing a uniform but then I realized it was Bucky? boy! was glad to see him"

hey Steve! he shouted and waved he soon realized that I was a girl. great Steve now your getting beat up by girls. I could tell he had a joking tone if he didn't I would be concerned. Steve kinda chuckled.

"I'm hoping his new friend," I said

-that saved my ass Steve butted in. I could then tell that Bucky spotted something on our rather in his jacket he snatched it out of his jacket and flipped it open. how many times is this, oh so you're from new haven now you know its illegal to lie on your enlistment form. "One of these days their gonna catch you" I kinda smiled to myself.

I soon looked down at my watch and realized the expo will be starting soon. "well, boys, it was nice meeting you but I really should be going duty calls." "where does duty call for such a young girl like you?" Bucky asked. "The expo" I shouted from the other end of the ally.

I trotted down the streets of Brooklyn they were flowing fast with people going home from their day Jobs to get to their families there were horns honking but it seemed so different from "nowadays" there was no one on their iPhone's for people to text on just people talking to people it almost felt like a dream it was... peaceful.

it was about 8:00 by the time the expo started I was standing in the audience as the music started to play Howard strutted onto the stage after his showgirls and kissed one right on the mouth. what a stark thing to do. I looked over through the audience my eyes landed on two particular people... Bucky and Steve they both looked like they had dates... or Bucky had two dates and Steve was just fourth wheeling.

It pained me when I saw him offer her something, it looked like peanuts she coldly rejected them I really wanted to go give it to her but I just thought it was her loss because she just technically rejected Captain America.

I turned back to watch Howard flip the switch for the hovercar I chuckled to myself when he said "in a few years your car may not even have to touch the ground at all" because let's face it it's 2017 and still no hover cars, back to the future was way off. not with the star wars movie though they got that right.

I watched the car break down, I looked over to see what Bucky and Steve's reactions were when it seemed Bucky was wondering the same question. we both realized he was gone it didn't take us anymore then a second to realize where he had gone Bucky told the girls he would be right back he started to walk towards the enlistment station I closely followed behind but discreetly.

when Bucky came to stop of course Steve was there. as they were talking I noticed someone it was none other than doctor Erskine I smiled because I then realized this was the very day he would be accepted into the super soldier program.

as I saw Bucky and Steve give each other one last hug. after the heartfelt moment Steve and Bucky parted ways Bucky with the girls and Steve giving it another go at getting into the war...then it hit me, Mother!!!! F-.
