Back in time

Arrival

The trip to Jersey was pretty boring we just sat there in silence I mean it was kinda hard to come up with a conversation with someone that isn't even supposed to be born yet.

I could tell we were getting closer to the base because everything was starting to feel a bit in the middle of nowhere the pavement had changed to gravel and the trees became thicker, I started getting nervous and antsy so I finally decided to open my mouth after almost two hours.

Okay, I rarely say this but are we their yet? and it's an honest question.

were almost there we have about five more minutes.

it was a pretty dry quick answer so I just huffed a sigh and went back to blankly staring out the window bored out of my freaking mind its not like I could just pull out my phone and play balls or something I would be revealing tech from the future and Howard could want to mess with it and try to create it and mess up the whole "space-time continuum" or whatever.

anyways I soon heard yelling it sounded like... drill sergeants. I picked up my head and looked out the windshield and sure enough, I saw a gate with two guards on each side.

Howard pulled up beside one of the men and handed him his license and some papers and he the man said he would be right back it was kind of awkward because the other guard had to keep a close eye on us, I mean I know the importance and reason they do it but it doesn't make it any less awkward.

the man quickly came back as he said he would be handed Stark back his papers and looked at me then back at Howard.

"Your clear Mr. Stark but whose this?

"Oh don't worry she just my assistant"

" We weren't notified you would have an assistant "

"well I do, now will you please open the gate so we can get to my lab we have A LOT of work to do before next week"

He nodded while eyeing me closely, I had nothing to hide it's not like I was a Nazi spy or something yet I still felt like I was doing something illegal I kept a straight face yet I was screaming on the inside.

he backed away from the car and signaled to the small guards' house and the small gates began to open.

as we drove through the camp there was a lot of troops it was very different I mean yeah I was very used to the training that was going on but it felt like a scene right out of a movie it all seemed almost... fake.

soon the car came to a stop Howard looked at me and said "you ready"

I slowly nodded not making eye contact just looking on into the distance. I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out of the car.

I stood up and closed the door I took one look around and then I saw her... my mom she was so pretty she had bright red lipstick on and her dark green army uniform on with her hair pinned up.

I wanted to run over to her and give her a huge hug but she would automatically think I'm crazy I walked a step behind him we walked right into what I was afraid of... my mother.
