Kaden

Chapter 9

It's been exactly two weeks since my incident and Kaden still won't let me leave or return to my job or school. I've already had to drop my classes because I've already missed so many classes and assignments. It would be impossible for me to make up the grades. Kaden has allowed me more freedoms instead of sitting in the room all day. I'm still healing but only a couple of scrapes and bruises left. Even though it has been two weeks, I've only seen Kaden a couple of times. Kaden is always on a run or doing club business, at least that's what he tells me it is. But Jack has been hanging out with me every day and impressing me with all the cooking skills he has. Not only can he make a mean mac and cheese and hot dogs dish, but this guy can be a chef. I've been taking it too easy on him, but the biker's got skills.

"Hey Jack, you think Kaden will extend one more favor to me," I ask stuffing his lasagna he just made in my mouth. I was so hungry, I totally forgot it just came out of the oven. The temperature burning my tongue, I drop the piece back on the place.

Jack gives me a questioning look as he just witnesses me spitting his precious lasagna on the plate. "It depends. Everything okay?"

"Oh yeah, just almost burned my tongue off. It's delicious by the way," I smile my tongue going numb. "Maybe I can start bartending again? Just so I can make some money for myself. I just want to feel some normalcy back in my life. Please please please can you talk to Kaden for me since I don't see him as much as you do!"

"Okay okay, calm down. I'll talk to him for you." He smiles and serves himself a nice piece.

"Thank you, I appreciate it! If you don't mind, I think I'm going to go read and relax with Toulouse for a little. She's been acting really needy and I don't think she's used to the change of places yet."

"Okay cat lady." Jack laughs as he stuffs a piece in his mouth.

"Hey! I'm not a cat lady! I'm just a lady that loves her cat very much. Get it straight," I snap my fingers and head out of the kitchen. I swear some people don't understand how cool some cats are.

Kaden

Kaden took his seat at the table while church was in session. He listened to his brothers discuss and inform the rest of the club on the run they just completed. They got the drug dealer's out of their city. Kaden knuckles throb at the remembrance of crushing the drug dealer's nose as a warning. Right now, the club knows that Emma's case sits on the back burners till they can get more leads.

"All right brothers, church dismissed." Kaden watches his dad slam the gavel.

"Hey Kaden, can we talk. It's about Emma." Jack comes from the sea of brothers leaving the room.

Kaden felt his stomach drop. He hasn't seen Emma in days since he just got back from the run. If anything, else had happened to her, he would hate himself for not protecting her himself. But then Kaden paused. The possessiveness in him took over and he was ready to lay a hand on a brother if a hand was laid on Emma.

"Emma, she wants to know if she can bartend. She needs some normalcy. You know she's independent and its killing her to have to rely on you."

Kaden's rage boiled in him, "What makes you think you know what she needs? You been hanging with my girl? You touch her too?" Kaden stepped forward and cornered Jack.

"Because I've been fucking keeping her company the past couple of days because you've been gone! Now back off Kaden, I know you have claim. No one's fucked with her and no one will. She's sweet and we all want to help. But you will lose her if you don't stop suffocating her. Give her space but keep her safe. There's a balance brother. Find it," Jack shook Kaden off leaving him with his own thoughts.

Kaden realized Jack was right. He has been disregarding her because he's been so consumed with the run and finding who hurt his girl. Kaden knew what needed to be done.

Emma

Ten chapters in and there was a knock at my door. Toulouse ran right for the door. She's been getting ballsy around here.

"Come in," I called from the couch by the window too lazy to get up. Kaden walked in with his black jeans and white shirt and MC cut on. He looked good. Real good. I haven't seen him in a couple of days and his presence still gives me butterflies.

"Hey kitten, I talked to Jack." Kaden sat on the coffee table across from me.

I marked my page and closed my book. "Oh? And what did he say?"

"I've decided to let you bartend again and..."

"YES! Thank you thank you thank you thank you," I threw my arms around Kaden and hugged him so tight. This meant everything and more to me. Finally, I can talk to my girls again!

"But! But you only bartend here. At the club's bar. So, you still have protection. I'm also letting you leave the clubhouse too but only with an escort. These are my conditions, Emma. Take it or leave it. I just want you to be safe." I pulled away from him and smiled.

"Thank you, Kaden, for everything you do for me! I have to go call the girls and tell them the good news!" I jumped up and went to go grab my phone.

Before I dialed the numbers, I went to thank Kaden with a kiss on the cheek. While leaning in, Kaden moved his head and my lips landed on his and spark erupted between us. Sneaky little devil. His hands moved to my neck and pulled me closer. My arms found their way around his neck. I sat on his lap and pulled him closer. Kaden broke the kiss and left me breathless.

"If we don't stop now, I don't think I will be able to control my actions later." Kaden moved and tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear.

I licked my lips and smiled. He followed my tongue with his eyes and I felt him shift under me. "You're right. I uhh- I still need to make that phone call." I got up and ran out of the room and left him with Toulouse.
