She couldn't even look at him, didn't want to glance at him.
They sit across from each other in the conference room both with their lawyers.
Their lawyers arguing back and forth about what he wanted and what she wanted out of this agreement.
She was getting a divorce. A divorce she wanted because he cheated on her.
"My client did not cheat on your client"
"That's not what the photos show, my client approached yours with the intent to discover the truth, he openly said yes"
Biting back her tears she looks up to the ceiling knowing well he was staring straight at her. Watching for her reactions, watching the person he thought loved him as much as he loved her throw everything away.
"We had an outside source get its authenticity because she couldn't trust those he knew"
"What? And those she got would lie to break us up!" He had finally snapped. Never in a million years would his wife, the woman he called the true love of his life think he would cheat on her "Those photos are of my twin, we have the same tattoo as a symbol of our bond"
If she could, she could feel her blood boiling. She was that mad at him for making up some excuses to his infidelity.
"So the day I come to your office and I ask you if you cheated on me, I was talking to your twin?" She asks fighting back the tears that wanted to burst through. Her voice waivers showing her emotions that wanted to break through the exterior facade she held so tightly on to. His gaze softened from his angry one
"I can prove it, I told you I was going away for work for a few weeks, I come back to find divorce papers sitting on my fucking desk!"
"Excuse me Mr Archer but if what you say is true my client still wishes to go through with the divorce"
"Really?" He asks as she keeps her gaze away from him "I'll prove it's my twin and I'll prove I have always loved you my beautiful girl"
"You haven't been around, your work is your life and then to hear this stupid excuse for cheating on me? We've been married for 3 years and I'm only finding out about your twin now? Just sign the papers Hamish! I don't want any of your business, I don't want anything from you" She could see in his eyes the heart break, the truth in his words but there was no proof. If he has a twin why come now? Why cause this much trouble for your brother?
"There were days where you'd be the best husband in the world, the man I fell in love with, the man who would do anything to keep me happy... Other days when we would go to events, you felt it was my obligation as your wife to attend yet flaunt countless women in my face... Like recently, the latest one was just the last straw and the cheating"
"What event? I haven't been to an event in the last 6 months and that one was the cancer society fundraiser Krystal" She slams her hand on the table. Her lawyer looks at her and squeezes her hand under the table. Krystal offers a soft smile back and takes a deep breath.
"We went to an event a few weeks ago, it was a black tie event for the sports awards you were nominated for, you threw a dress at me the day it was on... I thought we weren't going because you had a couple of visits to childrens hospitals that day but you said they got canceled and that the awards were more important" She takes a deep breath trying not to cry at her next words "You've sworn at me more in the last 6 months than you ever have since we met and I never knew you were capable of verbal abuse... You told me to hurry the fuck up and put the fucking dress on that you paid $1000 for, you said I was only good for one thing and that was because of my money.. When we arrived, you instantly gravitated towards supermodels on the arms of other men, kissed them behind the ear or neck and would sulk being at my side" She couldn't hold them in anymore, she just cried "I told you that night that this was the last straw and I will file for divorce, the next day I receive photos dated back 3 weeks before the event you in bed with another women and that's when I got in touch with Julia"
