The Rebound

I can't believe he left me with all this shit.

I hear a knock at my front door. I did need a break from all the crying and stress so whoever is at my door better be good.

Getting up from my position on the floor in my lounge, I walk over to my front door. I hesitate for a moment before opening it to find my two best friends each with an overnight bag and a bag full of groceries

My shoulders drop and I let the tears fall as soon as I see them.

"Aww honey" My best friends of ten years both pull me in for a hug

"Kayla can you grab the tissues?" Kayla walks away and moves to grab my tissues while I'm being pulled away from the door to the living room

"Baby where did you put them?" She calls from the entry

"Honey girl its in the grocery bag" He calls leading me to the coucb and sits me down amongst my mess

"William Harris I bet you left them in the car"

My two best friends married each other a few years ago and have never kept their relationship from me. They were there for me through my five year one that just recently ended.

I thought he was it for me but obviously seeing his high school fling made him reassess who he really loved.

I was then left with a mortgage to pay for by myself, his car I was paying for and all the furniture that was in our house and a wedding I was planning for because lets face it he left me a few months before the wedding.

"I can't get a refund on the things we've paid for" I cry into Williams arms. I wipe my eyes and turn to Kayla who offers a soft smile "But I found this couple on Facebook who are struggling with their wedding, I got in touch with them and I'm giving them everything"

"Honey that's awesome" Kayla says "Richard said he wanted to keep the stuff for him and his new girl"

I rub my forehead and lean my head on her shoulder

"Thats too fucking bad but I'm glad you guys came, I think I'm going to sell this house and get a smaller one maybe a 3 bedroom, I picked out all the furniture in this house, I've stopped the payments on his car so then he has to pay for it himself"

"That's our girl, you have a good job, beautiful and any guy lucky enough to have you, will appreciate you and not take advantage of you" Kayla smiles as we watch William walk to the bags and grab a tub of ice cream

"Now we called your assistant and told her that you will be off the next two weeks, she told us you've been running yourself down this last month and we are not going to see you this way so tomorrow you and Kayla are going to have a spa day then we are going out for dinner and drinks with friends and sunday you are to meet with that bride and groom as well as their bridal party" I smile at them both as tears suddenly fall once again.

Suddenly having time to myself made everything just fall on me that much harder.

I had Kayla and William with me but it was me on my own. I'm an only child whose parents died a long time ago, the only person who raised me my grandmother died a few years back.

I have cousins who I am undoubtedly close with but realisticly speaking it's just me now.

"Don't you start Emma" I hear Kayla whisper making me turn my head

We had our nails done, massages the whole treatment and now getting my long hair cut short.

"I can see that look in your eye, you're wallowing in your grief of being alone... baby, William and I are just down the street and we are your family now ok" I nod my head smiling at her "We need to party and celebrate your success in finding your new found strength and the multitude of success your business is getting"
