Chapter 5 Dragon Slayers

When I saw him dead I realized that I had to find my uncle knowing nothing else about him, but that's not all that went through me. Something snapped inside me. I didn't know what happened, but I did get a few glimpses.

I got back up and tried the thing I did with the lightning but it wasn't lightning or any other magic I've used before. The next thing I new I was pounding the dragon into the ground. The last thing I remembered was me tearing out the dragons heart. Then I woke up.

It was the middle of the day, and I had a dragon heart in my hand. The settlement was gone, burnt to ashes. Not by the dragon or the other monsters but by the panic.

I couldn't move and I couldn't spot Owa or Byto. I was too sore to even talk. Then I saw someone he seemed familiar.

I couldn't see their face, but he helped me up and brought me to Owa and Byto. A little ways away from the settlement. Byto tried to be funny and said "remind me not to get on your bad side".

Meanwhile Owa was fanboying toward the man. I overheard that he was a man named Roif Liden, a pro dragon slayer. He lifted my head up and gave me a healing potion. He stayed with us for reasons I don't know.

When I could get up I gave Roif the heart. He took it and gave me my wand that I dropped back at the settlement. I asked him if there where any more dragon slayers. He said "there are only 3 besides me, Treg Rea, Ian Daxe, and you Jane Daxe, but your not a pro yet."

I asked him "how do you know my name and where's Ian Daxe ?" He answered both he said "me and the others kept an eye on you since your exam. as for your uncle he's in Deaus, The city on the other side of the world from Mare, the city were you came from."

He knew so much about me I was scared he was stalking me. He ended up staying with us as our substitute mentor. It was a few hours into the afternoon until we started moving again.

Owa asked way to many questions when Roif was around. While Byto had a lot more chances to " steal my heart " without Mr. Reso stopping him. As for me, besides fending off Byto, I felt like I was achieving something knowing where where uncle Ian is.

We spotted another big city on our journey. This ones name was Gozy. When we got in it looked just like Mare. It also turns out that there are only 4 big cities in the world. The only 2 we haven't been in is Deaus and Hebin.

After 2 days in the city we met Treg, and Owa was fanboying all over again. Treg joined us in our journey, but he didn't really talk much. Unlike the the fanboy(Owa) and the ladies man(Byto).

We left the city on the other side. This time we took a boat because there was an ocean to cross this time. The boat was like a cruse liner, and it surprised me that Roif owned it. We even had our own rooms on the boat.

The room I had on the boat seemed to be as big as the house back in Mare. Before I got the chance to get settled into my new room the boat took off from port. Shortly after Treg and Roif came to my room to talk to me.

We talked for about 5 minute until it got interesting. Roif needed to know if I got " it " yet. I had no idea what he was talking about. He removed his glove and showed me a mark on the back of his hand that was shaped like a dragons head.

Treg also showed me his but Treg's was on his neck and smaller. Roif explained " everyone who kills a dragon is part of the dragon slayers, but to signify it your body gives you a mark of the dragon. Your uncle's is on his right shoulder and it's bigger than mine."

I said that I didn't know. Then Roif asked if he could search me for it. I was hesitant at first, but I did end up letting him. He spotted it on my back, and it was about the size of a football. Too bad I can't see it to see if it's gone in my world.

They stayed a little longer and near the time they left they frightened me with what he said. He said " You came from another earth like your uncle did. He always talked about that world every chance he got. So why did you come here?" I had to answer truth fully and I said " I didn't know about this world until almost 3 months now. I couldn't even comprehend another world apart from my own. I came here to search for my uncle, but now I don't even want to leave this place."

Treg left a little before Roif did, but when Roif did he said " Thera, you can call this earth Thera". I guess we were a little too loud because we attracted unwanted eavesdroppers. Owa heard the entire thing and was now fanboying over me and my dragon mark. While Byto just heard the last part and was more curious about my world. Well I had to tell them eventually, didn't I.
