Tom walked around the fairgrounds alone after Edd and Matt left him to go on the Ferris-wheel together, which Tom took as a, "We're going to abandon you so we can go on a romantic date for 45 minutes and make out and hold hands and be gross."

He was eating buttery popcorn from a paper bag and walking around, looking at all the booths and such that were set up for people. Tom continued on for a bit until something rather peculiar caught his eye. In between a couple of booths, he saw something metallic and shiny. Something that didn't seem to belong.

Tom squeezed in between the two booths to get a better look. There was a small space between the outside edge of the fair and a creek. In that space, stood a boy made of a bronze colored metal. He was clothed with nothing more than a tattered red hoodie and brown shorts and his hair was spiked up into two horns on the top of his head. There was a sign that was driven into the ground, next to the boy that read, "Put three quarters, two dimes, and one nickel into the coin slot in the back of my neck,"

Tom immediately dropped his popcorn on the ground and dug through his pockets. He found his wallet and opened it, picking out the necessary coins.

Walking around toward the boy's back, he found the coin slot and slid the coins in, listening to them fall. He moved back to the front of the boy and waited for something to happen. After waiting for a couple minutes, he decided this was just a waste of one dollar and turned back toward the fairgrounds. That is until Tom heard something behind him coming from the boy.

It sounded like the moving of metal. Or the scraping of one piece metal against another piece. Tom turned back to see that the boy's eyes were now open. He stared into those eyes for a little while. Instead of being that bronze colored metal, his eyes looked like they were made out of silver. The Irises did at least, while the pupils were small mismatched buttons, a tiny black button for the left eye, and a slightly off colored, slightly bigger button was for the right eye. The sclera, however, looked like it was simply glass, as you could see the gears inside the boy's head through his eyes.

"Hello."

Tom gasped and tripped backward, falling to the ground.

"My goodness, I'm sorry for scaring you like that," The boy leant out a hand. "I am Tord," Tord smiled.

"I'm Tom... " Tom took Tord's hand.

Tord pulled Tom up and dusted him off.

"You're... made of metal?"

"Yes. I am."

"How are you... Where did you..."

"Well, did you know how you came into existence right out of the womb?"

"No..."

"Same with me."

"Wait, are you saying that you... were born or... created recently?"

"Yep." Tord smiled.

"Oh... " Tom put his hands in his hoodie pocket. "Do you know who... you know..."

"Nope."

"Okay..."

"Now, you're cute," Tord paused to giggle at Tom's face, which was turning into a bright shade of red in the fair's multi-colored lighting. "Would you like to hang out with me tonight?"
