I slipped into my dress and looked in the mirror. Scout walked in, well hopped in, putting her shoes on and she stopped dead in her tracks.

"Lai.. shit" she said. I turned and faced her.

"Do i look bad?" I asked. Horror flowing through me.

"You look.. amazing.. THATS THE LAI I KNOW AND LOVE" she yelled. I smiled and looked in the mirror. I was wearing a tan fitted silk dress, and I curled my hair slightly so they were in waves. I beat my face, and finished up with accessories. Scout was wearing a black dress, and black heels. Simple yet I knew she was getting numbers tonight.

"Nah you look amazing. As always. All eyes will be on you" i said. She smiled and we posed for some selfies.

"Lai.. you don't even have social media.. make an instagram." She said. I made a face, and she sat me down, downloading the app and helping me create a profile. My username being 'lai'. Simple and easy. She followed a bunch of people, including jack and the guys. I got follows back immediately.

"Okay let's go" I said. A devilish smile grew onto her face.

"Yes.. let's" she said. I don't know if it was her, or the way she responded, but I was definitely scared.

"Okay here it is" I said to Scout. We walked up to the club and a bouncer stopped us.

"Names" he said. I looked up at him.

"Laila Martinez?" I said. He shook his head.

"Lai. We're here with Jack Gilinsky" I said. He grabbed the ropes and let us in. We walked in, and were led to a section. There were balloons and a balloon sign that said my name and '24', as well as a cake.

"Like?" Nate asked. I jumped and laughed a little.

"Yeah.. who?" I asked. He gave me a smile and ran his hands through his hair.

"Take a wild guess" he said. Jack walked in right after. He was matching me, unintentionally. I didn't wanna stare, but I honestly couldn't help it.

Stop it Lai. He's one of your students dad..

"Hey" i said. He looked up, and his jaw dropped.

"Hi" he said, sounding almost breathless.

"I love everything" I said. He smiled and laughed nervously.

"I found out today.. I would've done better" he said, almost apologizing.

"Don't.. it's perfect." I said. He looked at me up and down.

"Lai.. you look amazing" he said.

"I mean you always look amazing.-" he said but I stopped him by laughing.

"Thank you.. you look... really good too.." I replied. He smiled and ran his fingers through his hair.

"Thank you.." he replied. Johnson stepped between us.

"That was the most painful version of flirting I've ever seen. Ready to party?" He asked. I heard jack mumble something and Scout put her arms around us

"I say, a shot for the birthday girl" she said smiling. Johnson waved his hand, and a waitress brought over a tray of shots. Everyone grabbed one, and we took them.

"Look at my best friend letting lose" Scout said smiling. I smiled back and then I turned to Nate.

"How about you take my best friend to the dance floor?" I asked. He got bright red and I didn't give him a second to answer before I pushed them off towards the dance floor. Content. I watched as they awkwardly stood there for a few minutes, but then the awkwardness faded, and they began dancing. I smiled and saw Jack leaning against the rail out the corner of my eye. I turned and faced him.
