Adrien bit his lip as he sat with Nino, Alya and Marinette by the lakeside. He never had friends besides someone who couldn't see him, or Chloe but she wasn't really a friend, just someone who wanted him. Like, wanted him, wanted him. Alya looked over at Adrien as Marinette slowly closed her eyes as her head rested on his lap. He sighed as he looked down at her on his lap. She looked so peaceful. "Hey Adrien," he looked up at Alya. "If you like her you should ask her out on a date that's not a 'just friends' date."

"I tried that before," Adrien sighed. "She ended up dead before we could even go."

"Who the hell did you ask?"

"Nino!"

"I'm just asking," Nino shrugged his shoulders. "Who did you ask Dude?"

"Bridgette Gunier," Adrien sighed. "She was blind too and when she got a surgery to fix her eyes she died on the table. I promised her that when she could see I would be the first person and we would go on a real date. But she died on the table." Tears boiled in his eyes so he closed them shut, not able to stop his trembling lip.

"Well I can guarantee you this," Alya placed her hand on Adriens shoulder. "Marinette, won't leave you. She's a strong girl. If she could deal with Chloe then she can survive death."

"I'm pretty sure Chloe is death." Nino chuckled making Alya laugh.

"Point is, Marinette won't leave your side. When's her surgery?"

"Her parents are still finding a date but so they don't go into bankruptcy, if possible their food is so good I'm surprised more people don't eat it," Adrien sighed happily as he opened his eyes. "So they don't go into a possible bankruptcy I'm gonna be paying for all of it."

"That's really nice of you Adrien," Alya smiled as Marinette let soft snores leave her lips. "You should get her home before she spends the night here."

"Yeah." Adrien softly laughed as he picked Marinette up and carried her home in his arms.

Adrien jolted his leg up and down as he ran his hands up and down his thighs as he waited in the hospital for the Dupain-Chengs. It's been a month since he told Marinette about the eyes, and how they were fine and her eye color. He looked down the hall again and saw Marinette with her hand running her hand on the wall with her parents behind her. He smiled as he stood up and walked to her, hooking his arm with her. "You know you're going the wrong way right?" He laughed.

"S-Sorry. My parents made the dumb decision to let me lead them," Marinette giggled as Adrien guided them. All to her hospital room, letting Marinette roam and make a guide in her head. "This room is big."

"Only the best," Adrien chuckled as nurses walked into her room. "You're surgery is in a few days but they need to run a couple tests. I'll let them explain." Adrien stepped out of the room as their doctor walked in, his eyes widened as he grabbed his arm and pulled him away slightly.

"What is the meaning of-" he looked at the blond who hung his head. "Adrien."

"Please, Dr.Swan," he looked up at the brunette. "Please don't hurt her."

"I won't Adrien. Bridgette was, not say a mistake, she was a hard case. Her eyes had far to much damage and it was never brought to our attention how sensitive her nerves were. Her eyes are complete now and will be perfect for your friend. I promise that I will pull her through." Adrien sighed and nodded, letting go of the doctors are and letting him walk into the hospital room.

Marinette hummed as she tapped her finger on the railing of her bed, an oxygen mask in her nose and her eyes covered with blue dots on where every incision and stitch would be. Adrien held her jittering hand as her parents had already said their 'See you laters'. "Mari, promise me you'll make it through."

"I promise," Marinette squeezed her hand against the railing. "I'm scared."

"Don't be. I'll be with you when you wake up and be the first person you see and," Adrien squeezed her hand. "And when you wake up and can see I want to take you on a date. A real one where I can hug you and hold your hand," he blushed hard. "And k-kiss you..."

"Adrien," Marinette sighed. "As great as that sounds I can't. I don't love you, I can't."

"But you will be able to," Adrien stupidly smiled. "You said you believed in love at first sight, right. Then I can only hope that it'll work." Marinette giggled.

"You can hope but we're just friends right now, Adrien," Marinette cupped his cheek, finding it damp. "I can hear the seniority in your voice when you speak your feelings for me and I believe they're true but right now, I can only be your best friend. Nothing more until I can see you."

"Okay," Adrien smiled. "Then I'll wait until you can see me."
