Chapter 5

"NEVER!" Ein voiced out.

"But sweetheart, I've become very attached to him, please Mariposa" Mrs Dassler tone was pleading, full with hopes. The 'Mariposa' in Spanish mean butterfly. It will only used when she was asking something from Ein.

Usually, she will obey because she hates that girlish nickname, but today it's different.

The eldest heir of the Dassler's family shook her head again. On that time, all three of them are having dinner, when suddenly Mrs.Dassler said that she wants to take Gilbert as her adoptive son.

"Ma, even if you've become very attached to him, you can't just simply want to make him as your son. He has nothing to do with us," calmly the raven headed girl sipped her lemonade juice.

"...What if you marry him?"

" Yes!! If you marry him, then at least he will become my son-in-law!" the sudden nonsense idea from her mother make her choked on her drink. She nearly sprayed the juice at her mother.

"No! I'd rather die!" she replied, coughing. "Oh no~ marry him or he becomes my adopted son. Choose one," her mother threatened.

"Dad, say something!" feeling distressed, she turned to her father for help, but the man clearly was not interested. He just shrugged. "I won't say anything, besides I myself, had grown very fond of him," he replied nonchalantly, while his wife beamed at his word.

EIN'S P.O.V.

Not dad too!? Did that guy put a spell on them? "No, just no! I don't accept this," I strictly said to them. Ma's face looked solemn. "Please think of Derik's feeling too. I don't think he wants another older brother," I used Derik's name to persuade Ma. He is my little brother, who right now is in boarding school. He's not here right? Who cares about his feeling? At his name, Ma stopped persuading me.

"I'll give him a call later then..." oh Lord! I thought she'll stop. How I wished to bash my face on this table right now. "He needs someone to take care of him," she continued. Puhlease, he knows how to take care of himself, he's not a kid. "Mom, I'm sure he knows how to take care of himself. He has many friends and girlfriendS that surely will take care of him, without doubt," Ma started to frown.

"You don't even know how he is. Two weeks is not enough to decide that he is a good guy," Ma sighed, glancing at Dad to ask for his help. He nodded, understanding her signal. I see, so now she's using the 3rd way, Dad's help. Her 1st way is calling me 'mariposa', I usually complied because that name irked me. 2nd is by threat. She already threat me to marry him didn't she? Next is Dad.

He cleared his throat. "Friends, or girlfriends, isn't the same with family Ein," he started. His voice is grim and serious. "Yes, maybe for you two week is not enough to know him. But for me, that short time already enough to prove that he is a great young man." He started to coaxed.

"I know you didn't like him, but knowing you, I'm certain that it was a foolish reason" Yes, he's right it was a foolish reason. He's too bright for my liking. Be it his skin complexion or his talkative self. He's just a total opposite of me. I really suck at accepting new people into my life. When dad saw me didn't reply, he continued.

"He's a strong-willed guy. He's exactly like you. At first, he couldn't accept his parent's death, but he got through it. He was temporarily blinded, but he managed himself. Although he's hurting inside he keeps on fighting," he gently grabbed my hand into his rough palm.

"Imagine if you lost us, imagine if you're in the same condition as him. You alone, without anyone you know by your side. Imagine it, my dear," my father's gentle words seeped through my heart.

Really...I have one soft spot, mainly when it comes to my parents, especially dad. He's the one who helped me when I have problems. Ma on the other side is the 'comforting mom'. She'll make jokes or hugged me when I'm down. She'll leave the coaxing to my father.

I stood up from my seat bringing my dishes along to be washed. Sighing, I muttered slowly but loud enough for them to hear.

"Suit's yourselves,"
