[ wc : 676 ]It's not easy to tame a beast. Some can be trained and trusted. Others are wild, and there's no way to control them.
Dallas Winston. Many people described him as a bully, wild animal, and a friend. But somehow in our small town of Tulsa, you managed to tame him.
Or so you thought.
It was a regular Sunday night. You were in Dally's room at Bucks doodling in your notebook and Dallas was asleep. At certain moments you would stop and look at Dallas. He was actually an amazing creature.
In his sleep he looked peaceful, not like his everyday troubled look. He looked younger too, and less haggard.
You started to doodle once again but then you heard a noise. You froze and listened again. Turns out it was just Dallas talking in his sleep. He then said a name. It was clear as day.
You quickly walked to bathroom and turned on the lights. The first thing you saw was Y/N L/N, which was not the name Dally just said. Everyone knew Dallas couldn't stay with a girl for three months without cheating. You wanted to prove them wrong, but they were right.
You watched as a tear fell down your cheek. And then another one. More kept appearing until there was a constant stream of tears. You slid down the bathroom door and covered your mouth, not wanting to wake Dally. But you couldn't keep silent for long.
Quite a loud sob escaped your mouth and pushed its way through your hand. Loud enough to wake Dally, who was a light sleeper.
"Babe? You okay?" He asked remarkably close to the door.
"Yea. I'm fine." You sniffed as you wiped tears off your face. But more kept coming.
"I'm coming in." He warned and he pushed the door open. As you were on the other side of it you slid until you hit the wall. "Babe, were you hurting yourself?" He asked as he closed the door.
"No, but I should have." You muttered.
"No, you shouldn't do that to yourself. You're beautiful." He kissed your hand.
"Don't give me that bullshit." You said as you ripped your hand away from him.
"What?" He asked. You were silent for a while. Your knees were to your chest with your arms wrapped around them. You put your head on your knees and thought for a second.
You lifted your head with tears in your eyes. "Who's Cherry?" You asked looking him dead in the eye.
"Oh."
"Y'know Dallas, I work all day, I feed you, put up with your shit. The one thing I ask in return is your loyalty. I thought you were grateful for all the things I do for you. Apparently not, because while I work you just go and bang another girl. I should've listened to everyone. They all told me to stay away from you. That you would just break my heart and move on right away. I thought they were wrong." You sighed and leaned your head on the cabinet.
"Babe, I was having another nightmare. About Johnny." He whispered.
"I was there. I don't recall a Cherry there." You said full of venom. He took a deep breath in, obviously trying to control his temper.
"She was a soc. I blame her for that damn mess. It was cause at the drive in, I guess Pony was talking to her and Bob saw them. I'm sure Bob was looking for them when he died that night. He made me lose Johnny. He was like my brother." Now Dallas was tearing up.
"I-I'm sorry." You whispered.
"You were busy working for the boys, there was no way you would've remembered." He mumbled. You engulfed him in a hug.
"You're a beautiful bastard." You said to him.
"You're a beautiful broad." He answered.
And just like that the beast was tamed. There was no need for a cage anymore. He was allowed to be free and trusted. And he finally understood what love actually was.
