Seems like fate to me

Kai's words ring through my head for the remainder of the day, and I cant shake it off. Could it really be fate? Nah... I doubt it... I mean the paper must have just fallen out of buffs paper and I just so happened to step on it.. Right?

"Luhan, honey, is something wrong?" My mom asks me from across the dinner table and my head snaps up as I regain my thoughts and surroundings. I was daydreaming again, and my dinner is untouched. I twirl my chopsticks between my fingers, with my other hand supporting my chin.

"Huh? Oh, I'm fine.." I shake my head, debating on whether or not to call her.

"You haven't touched your dinner.." She says, her brown eyes looking at mine with concern.

"I'm not hungry." I reply and poke a piece of pork with my chopsticks.

"This better not be SM putting you on a diet again! You're already as skinny as a twig!" She says worriedly, and takes a bite of her noodles.

"I'm not! I swear!" I laugh and shrug. "Honestly I'm just not hungry.." I put my chopsticks down as she gives me a look for playing with my food.

"Fair enough.. If you're hungry later just come down here a reheat it." She says, sticking my food in some containers and putting them in the fridge.

"Okay! Saranghaeyo Umma!" I say cheerily then run off to my room, plopping onto my bed before pulling my phone out. I hear the faint roar of an engine, and look towards my window. I continue hearing things moving along with muffled voices. My curiosity peaks and I move over to my window, pulling the curtains open and look outside. There's a moving truck outside the huse next door, and a couple of people talking and trying to get a couch outside. The house next door has been for sale for a while now, so Its not surprising that I have new neighbors. I grow uninterested for a while, until I see someone familiar out of the corner of my eyes. Directly across from my window, is the window to the upstairs bedroom for the neighbors house. Wait, who's that occupying the new bedroom..? Long light brown hair, stunningly milky white skin..

It's Iris!

Wait, Iris is my new neighbor?

Kai, I cant believe im saying this.. But you could be right..

Is this really fate?

I suppose Iris doesn't see me, because she proceeds to unpack her boxes, and hang up all her clothes. Waaaiiiiiit a second.. What is she doing now? She sets out some pajamas on her bed, then her hands grip the bottom of her shirt.

NOPE!

IM NOT A STALKER I SWEAR

I quickly close my curtains and turn around, feeling like a huge stalker. I take a deep breath and shake my head again. Is this even real? Maybe I'm still daydreaming at the table with mom. I pinch myself. Nothing. This is actually happening. I walk downstairs and round the corner to find mom at the sink, putting dishes in the dishwasher. "Umma? Do we have new neighbors?" I ask, trying to sound as innocent as possible.

She looks a little surprised as she turns to face me. "Yeah we do. I met them earlier. Why?" She asks, wiping her hands with a towel then gives me a strange look. "You look a little red. Are you feeling alright?"

This is embarrassing. I laugh awkwardly and avoid her hand that tries to feel my forehead for a temperature. "I'm fine, I'm fine! And I just saw the moving truck outside sooooooooo." I say, rubbing the back of my neck. I leave out the part about the window.

"You're acting strange..." My mom says, again with that odd look of hers.

"Well, I am strange, aren't I Umma? Love you good night!" I say, give her a kiss on the forehead like a good kid would, then I quickly run off to my room. Its not even late and im definitely not going to bed right now. As I get upstairs, I see that Iris is hanging up purple curtains on her window. Well, at least I don't feel like a total stalker now.

To get my mind off of things, I decide to take a hot shower, letting the warm water wash away all my troubles and thoughts. It feels great, especially after a long day of practicing, which I have to look forward to again tomorrow. My body and muscles ache as they do after every practice, but I'm pretty much used to it. It's no big deal anymore. Besides, the hot water makes it feel better, and I wash myself off quickly, then my hair. After that I just stand for a while, letting the steaming water hit my back as I think.

Im just terrified.

Terrified that this isn't fate.

That its just a freak coincidence

That she wont like me.

I sigh and shake my head, turning the water off, and dry myself thoroughly with a towel, then change into something comfortable to sleep in.

After drying my hair and prepping it for tomorrow-ive said this before, it has to always look perfect.

With a clean body, and dried and soft hair, I sit back down on my bed. I glance over to my side and realize that I have a landline in my room. My eyes widen and I grab the small piece of paper on my desk, staring at the number.

I have to do this. It's fate right? Kai is good with ladies, and he would want me to do this.. I cant help myself, and I take a peek out my window, seeing her figure standing by the window, putting her hair in a ponytail. Her new curtains are stylish, but you can still see silhouettes through them so they're not very effective are they.

I have to do it. But I cant let her know its me.. Not yet..

I turn the lights off in my room then glance at the bright green numbers on my digital clock.

11:58 pm

I quickly grab a t shirt and hold it to my mouth so my voice will be muffled enough that she wont recognize it, but she'll still understand me.

11:59 pm

Time flies when youre panicking doesn't it. My heart is beating like crazy as I do an old trick that my friend Chen taught me to block my number so she cant see it. Chen's a bit of a prankster by the way. I can barely hear myself over my own nervous heartbeat as I wait

12 am.

I dial her number and wait, my palms sweating just thinking about her.

One ring...

Two rings...

Three rings...

"Hello?" Her beautiful voice answers from the phone
