The war was unkind, when  you all managed to force the British back you took to waters. Every day was a fight for your life, you were stationed on shore with Burr and Lafayette, Hamilton and Laurens always seemed to be glued to each other lately but you knew of their attachment so you never spoke against it. They were writing papers against slavery, you would join in whenever you could. With the recent troops stationed in New York harbor, there was nothing you could do without fearing for the lives of citizens.  You were just getting a break, you shared a tent with Hercules and John since you three were a party together, Mulligan was working on a letter. He turned to you with a smile, you two had made amends. "So, how is everything out there short shit?" he asked, you flop onto your cot and rest your head on the hard pillow supplied, you were considered lucky, most didn't get pillows. Since you were friends with Alexander you and your small group got much better treatment, something that started a lot of fights. "Cold, the snow doesn't seem to be letting up." You were shuddering, after all you were still a woman. You jumped and let out a squeak when you felt his hand on your arm, snow was caked to your clothes and freckled your hair, now melting. "Shit, you weren't joking." He chuckled nudging you as you sat up and moved over as he moved his cot next to yours to connect them. "W-what are you doin- oof!" you squeaked again when his arms wrapped around you and pulled you to his chest, despite your better judgement a quiet moan left you at the feeling of how warm he was. Hercules laughed at you, your face burned you quickly mutter out- "Ive been outside all day, god forgive I'm pleased at the first warmth im given." He nodded hand pressed to the back of your head as you cuddle into his chest, thankful for the heat. Your eyes snap shut instantly, you haven't had a decent night of sleep for three days.  You fall asleep against him, Hercules doesn't let you go, he almost started to slip off himself until more shuddering men started into the tent. Alexander and Laurens walked in, Hercules shifted a bit and lifted a free finger to his lips, the two quieted. "Carson's been working himself to the bone, he was freezing as ice when he came in." Herc explained, John nodded and took his coat off. "We will be meeting bright and early, Washington has a few thing's he'd like to tell us. Regarding the captive we have taken from the British forces." Alexander said quietly, Laurens was shaking as Alexander bid them all a goodbye. "Mind if I join?" Laurens asked quietly, teeth chattering. Hercules shook his head,   it wasn't odd for this to happen, in such cold; huddling together and keeping each other warm was all they could do. "Ill leave you with Shawn, he's gotten warmer, I have a letter to finish writing." Herc whispered, handing you off to Laurens. John snuggled great fully into the warmth you gave off , your arm moves to wrap around him and hold him close. To you there was just a cold shaking form next to you, and you could make them warm so you would. Your hair had been let down, as was Laurens's. His fluffy curls brushed over your face, making you slip back into a cozy sleep.

1776 ended quicker than you expected, The snow grew more harsh and vicious over the winter. Every day you would fight alongside your friends, today was no different. The british regiments pushed you all further and further back each time you would manage to get them even back just a bit, as you and your friends fled you could hear them yelling 'Huzzah' and laughing like you were a dog running with your tail tucked between your legs. War makes men mad, at least every day someone would wail over a lost friend, or get into a fight. You were barely holding it together, your days alongside Laurens and Lafayette were your favorite. Hamilton had started to fade, Burr was so focused on getting his command, Hercules was told there is a chance he had to go back to his apprenticeship, of course You and Hamilton spoke strongly against it and held off for awhile.
