He made it to the town where the fallout shelter was. It was night. He wasn't sure how many towns were like this. Empty. Like everyone just got up and left while he was asleep. It was freaky, the more he thought about it, but he put it off to the side and drove to a local supermarket. He looked around and made himself around couple peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, seeing as all the meat had gone rancid. He wanted to conserve the phone's batteries, so he read books and played some games on the stores portable electronics. His father had worked the counters at their local supermarket, so he knew where some of the keys were to open the cabinets. Others he smashed in. He played games and read books until dawn. Then slept. He woke up in the afternoon and looked. Still the same empty store, all quiet. He walked out into the warm afternoon air. He thought about what he should do. The shelter was probably closed off, assuming people were inside. He walked around the store for a bit, then decided to leave and go check out the bomb shelter anyways. The road was empty of cars. It looked like they were all parked in parking lots, or I'm house drive ways. The trees were all barren of leaves as well, and it wasn't even fall yet. The air was still warm with summer heat. He swapped out cars at a gas station. Found a nice smart car painted blue. He finally made it to the fallout shelter external entrance. It wasn't a very big building on the outside. It looked fairly sturdy none the less, concrete grey with reinforced glass windows. He walked into the front entrance. It looked like an underground subway station entrance, with escalators leading to the area down below. He checked around the above ground area for signs of people having come through earlier, but no signs of disturbance could be found. He walked down the escalator into a darker area. He pulled out a small flashlight he'd taken from a store he looted a while ago.
