CHAPTER THREE
Adjusting to the life of a queen has been difficult over the week, on Tuesday I was assigned my first order of business. I sat on my throne in the great hall whilst the members of my new pack came forward with their issues, one woman had claimed that her sister had stolen a handful of Gladioli's from her garden. A pair of wolves entered the room stating that they were mates and asked for my blessing.
Wednesday I had to fill out paperwork concerning the refurbishment of four houses destroyed due to wolves turning for the first time and other things that needed my signature, Thursday and Friday I spent trying on multiple gowns for my coronation and organising the transportation to the annual mate meeting on Sunday.
The mate meeting happened once every year, here pack wolves are given the opportunity to meet their mates by mixing with other packs. This year we are to travel to the Western realm as this is where the gathering will happen, each year the event is hosted at a different realm.
Currently I am sitting at my new desk, the pine wood holding important documents and a computer on it, and sorting through pack documents. My father had left the room in a rather unorganised and messy state which no doubt drove my mother insane, because of this I am now moving all files in to correct compartments and throwing those that do not matter.
The sound of clicking of heels against the concrete floor of the castle pulls me out of my workaholic trance an hour later, the person wearing the heels sounds rushed and other shoes run behind her. Commotion behind the door urges me to stand from my desk, prepared to fight.
Doors fly open as my aunt flies through the room, knocking over several piles of organized files on her way. I frown as she smirks at me and kicks the papers to prove her point, she's challenging me.
Garrett is close behind me, ready to grab and remove my aunt from in front of me needs be.
"Aunt Sarah, what a wonderful surprise." I state, although there is nothing wonderful about this encounter. Quickly, I turn my attention to Garrett and wave him off, indicating that there is no threat. More men stand behind my aunt as she crosses her arms and scowls at me.
"What brings these gentlemen and yourself in to my office?" I ask cheerily even though all I want is for her to pick up those knocked over files and run in to two silver stakes on her way out, one in the heart and the other in the head.
"Princess Layla, we're sorry to inform you this but until you are eighteen and crowned queen, your aunt is in control of the realm whilst you are unavailable." A grey haired man states and grabs a handful of papers off of his colleague, I frown as they are passed to Garrett. It only takes a second for Garrett to read the text but from his reaction when he looks to me, I know it is true.
"Is this genuine Garrett?" I ask from behind the desk and he only nods confirming my suspicions.
"That's right Layla, looks like I'll have to take over for a while." My aunt taunts and smirks at me once again, my blood boils as I see red and a small snarl is released from my mouth.
"What of my duties, what am I to do until then?" I ask, ignoring Sarah, and the men converse amongst each other and my aunt again, the same grey haired man turns back around to speak shortly after.
"As your aunt has cleverly suggested, you shall be treated as a regular pack member to learn the ways of the common people." He speaks again and I glare at my aunt once again, Garrett frowns at me in warning, I ignore it.
"So I shall just be a regular pack member, but where shall I stay for the next three months?" Confused I turn to Garrett, I don't believe my aunt holds this much power over these men. This may not be a long time but it is long enough for Sarah to change rules and make Harriet or herself queen.
