CHAPTER EIGHT

"Excuse me, are you awake in there?" A deep voice questions and wakes me up from my light sleep, it's been hard to rest over the past few days due to the activity my brain has had.

"Am I allowed out yet?" I ask, moving closer to the door. Whoever is on the other side needs to let out.

"Not quite, for some reason your heat is lasting longer than usual. Do you know why that could be?" The man continues and I pause for a moment, this man is not my mate. An unknown anger fills my body from the realisation and I lunge towards the door, trying to break through and attack.

"Who are you to speak to me like that, I am a queen. Let me out." I shout and continue to scratch at the door in the hopes that it will collapse at my touch.

"Listen, if you tell us who you are we will get your mate and you will be better. Let us help you." He speaks quietly, probably trying to calm me down.

"You know what you could do to help me?" I ask sweetly, changing my approach. "You could open this door and join me."

"I don't think that is a good idea, I could get in to a lot of trouble with your mate." He laughs nervously, I hear shuffling behind the door and the door rattles slightly.

"But I don't have a mate, he left me. I'm all alone, why don't you help a girl out." I can't stop myself as I pull on the door again and try to pry it open.

"Are you sure?" The guy questions again, this time he sounds more willing to open the door.

"Certain." I whisper, it's silent once again for a while. That is until the rattling of the keys gets louder and the locks on the door start to turn.

Just as the door is about to open there is a loud thud from the other side, I step back and try to smell the area. The Cerbera Odollom stops me from finding out who is on the other side.

Silence.

"Nice try Layla but tricking one of my younger wolves isn't going to help you escape." Daniel replies seriously and my breath hitches in my throat, his presence alone allows me to become myself again.

"Daniel, I don't know what's wrong with me." I mutter and try to stop myself from pacing back and forth by the door.

"It's because you are the Feminam Regis, your self-control is a lot weaker than most she-wolves. It is both your uprising and your downfall, your wolf craves my attention and she will deceive anyone to get it." He continues, my wolf feels calmer when listening to his voice but she still craves his touch and still needs his eyes on her.

"What happened to the boy?" I question after a moment of silence.

"He's taking a long break, trying to calm his wolf down from your encounter." Daniel replies and I frown.

"He shouldn't have been affected too harshly by me, the walls are lined with Cerbera." I question and the sound of my mate's soft laughter fills my ears.

"For some reason your scent is stronger than the Cerbera, even I am having a hard time resisting you." He mutters humorously, the floorboards creek on the other side of the door and I move closer to hear.

"All I want is for you to hold me." I whisper sadly, more to myself than to him.

"It's an odd feeling you know, to be stuck lusting for another."

"I can imagine it is, I'm sorry for putting you through this." Daniel replies sincerely, I smile as I sense him coming closer to the door, the small thud tells me he is resting upon it.
