CHAPTER SIX
Getting away from the border patrol guards was fairly easy considering the news of our escape hadn't reached their ears yet, after thirty minutes of running the Cerbera Odollom had worn out of Daniel's system and he was able to shift. His wolf is a sandy brown colour, with a few tiny scars running across his shoulder blade and back. He isn't too large, but he's still a big wolf, his body is taller than my own by quite a few inches. His eyes are the same colours as his human eyes, the left one blue and the right one brown.
We run for miles, one-hundred and forty-three to be precise, and only stop for three rest breaks. Eventually we reach a clearing, small enough to conceal a small pack but large enough to live freely with enough space to expand.
"This is the pack house." Daniel announces and sure enough, in the middle of the opening stands a tall building large enough to accommodate over seventy wolves.
"How have you managed to keep this hidden for so long?" I question and gape at the large building, some of the children outside run around laugh amongst one another and the mothers watch and chat to each other.
"We're on neutral land, this way no one owns us." He replies and makes a move to walk into the building.
"So how many rogues live here?" I ask as we walk past two teenagers gossiping, and the mention of rogues both of them turn to snap at me and snarl.
"We do not call ourselves Rogues, we are just werewolves that do not wish to be controlled. Many call us Liber's or gratuito's but most prefer Gratis'." He speaks with calmness, and gestures for me to follow him once again.
"You believe all those that claim to be Gratis' are peaceful and content?" I ask curiously and he is quick to shake his head.
"No I do not but, they are happier away from the council." He replies as we enter the pack house, to say I am amazed is an understatement. Compared to the castle which is quiet and filled with tension, this pack house is bursting with life and joy.
"Welcome to your temporary home Queen Layla." Daniel announces and the slam of the door shutting turns everyone's attention to the pair of us standing in the doorway.
The room in silent for a moment, everyone watching me. Before I had returned to the castle I would've smelt like any other wolf but now, after being surrounded with luxuries, I smell like royalty.
"Queen Layla Child's is in great danger because of the council, she too is under their control and wishes to break free. If anyone has any objects to her staying here until she is able to fight back and save her people then please speak now, this is not a dictatorship and everyone has a voice, I will go with the majority." Daniel asks with quiet intensity, making eye contact with as many people in the room as he can.
Many raise their hands in objection whereas others keep them down, most look uncertain.
"Reece Milder is that you?" A man speaks from the centre of the room and everyone seems confused as he makes his way towards me, as he gets closer I recognise the man to be one of the men that took me in to his home whilst I was running. I smile as he embraces me in to a hug and let out a slight laugh when he refers to me by one of my aliases.
"What is he talking about, you're no princess." He jokes and releases me from his hold, I smile up at him and gently hit him on the shoulder as he ruffles my hair.
"Andrew, I've missed you!" I exclaim and he pulls me in to another quick side hug.
Turning back to the group of wolves, Andrew addresses the pack.
