Hunting Mate

Chapter Twelve

Pandora had stayed overnight to help me look after the children; I still had to find a way to get my brother out of that place. I really wanted to go back last night and make sure he was ok but I needed to make sure the three girls were ok.

I hear banging at my door "Layton" Pandora says-she sounds terrified-I go to the door, opening it a little and see Pandora's father "where is Dora?!" he screams, Pandora breathes behind me and tugs the door I open it wider so he can see her "Dad, sorry I was going to tell you but Layton had to look after his little sister and niece so I offered to help, he doesn't have much experience with children" she tells him, her father looks at me.

I grab Laurel "I'm so sorry sir I really didn't mean to worry you, I completely blanked I've had so much going on" I tell him, I really did forget "dad is it ok if I stay with Layton a little longer? he has to go pick his brother up soon, so these children need looking after" she asks him "you can come back home and watch them at our house" he says looking me up and down, Pandora looks at me I nod.

I hand her father, my sister and I watch them leave as I plan my way to get my brother back here with me. I get Will and Frankie to mine "guys, I need your help, I need you to back me up" I tell them, I talk them through the situation they are shock but agree to help me, we head to my mother's house.

As we get outside, I breathe, the boys were stood back in their wolf forms. I open the door "mom?" I ask, she comes out the room staggering, I didn't even want my best friends to see this but I need my brother to be safe "Layton, you came back" she slurs, I nod wanting to cry at the fact my best friends were going to see this place and Pandora had already seen it.

I look at her as she ushers me in "where's Lionel?" I ask her she looks around her and shrugs as a man comes out of the room and starts kissing her neck, I walk upstairs as they get more heated. I go into the bedroom I was in yesterday "Lionel" I say relieved to see him, he picks his head of the bed too look at me and I see the black eye and bust lip.

I walk over to him "come on, I'm getting you out of here" I say he shake his head "I can't" he says, I pull the covers off him and he's laid on the bed in only his underwear, he was on his front and there was bruises and blood all over him, I cover my mouth, this is my fault.

I help Lionel up and he stands with a wince "come downstairs with me" I say as we make our way downstairs, luckily nobody was there I push him to the door fast "where do you think you are going?" I hear a rough voice behind me I turn to him "we are just going for a walk" I say he looks at me "I don't think so" he start coming closer taking his belt off, I open the door and let out a loud whistle, as I spin, I pick Lionel up and run out the house.

Four men come run out after us but I lead them in Frankie and Will's direction, the men stop as the wolves come into view; growling and snarling. I get Lionel in the car "stay down" I tell him as he throws himself on the ground I close the door, I strip putting my clothes on the passenger seat of the car and I close the door then phase.

I head back to help the guys out 'you owe me big time, Layton Hammond, that dude hit me with his belt' Will told me, I'm surprised he didn't rip into them but he knew that I was related to people there and he didn't know who was who 'none of them are my family' I tell them both. The guy that chased me out the house hit me with his belt I growl harsh at him and leap forward and bite his hand and he screams out some colourful words.

I see my mom come out "guys, get in quickly" she says and they all run into the house, something was wrong, I look up at the window above the door and see part of a gun 'gun, window, run' I tell the boys and we run into the darkness and to the car through the backstreet.

We phase back and get dressed again then jump in the car and drive back home as fast as we can, I smile at Lionel "I told you I would get you all out" I tell her he smiles at me weakly "where's my little girl?" he questions "she's with Pandora, a friend of mine, so is Laurel" I tell him.

He gets up onto the chair next to me "thank you for coming back" he says weakly, Will turns around to look at us "wow you can tell you are brothers" he says Lionel looks at him "Lionel, that's Will and the one driving is Frankie I told you about them before not sure if you would remember that though" I said and he nods "I remember, your best friends, that helped you find your feet" I nod.

Lionel looks at us "how did you manage to get away?" he asked, I shake my head and cuddle him "go to sleep, sleep off some of those drugs and don't worry about it" I tell him, Will turns back around facing the front.

We get back my place and head inside, Will and I help Lionel inside, after I lay him down on the couch, I grab my phone "everything ok?" Pandora answers "hey everything is fine, could you bring the kids? I think he will want to see them" I tell her "ok I will, we are on our way back now anyway" she says "where are you coming back from?" I question "just went to a few shops to get the girls some clothes and stuff" she explains "well come straight to mine" I say "ok" she says "thanks babe bye" I hang up. Did I just call her 'babe'?

Frankie and Will were staring at me smirking "it slipped out" I admit then sit on the floor near where Lionel was sleeping, I rub his face gently, I miss the little boy he used to be "are you going to tell him how we managed to get away?" Frankie asks "yeah like I could explain that, plus he has more stuff to worry about" I say "like?" I look at them "getting over having a drug addict and being a father" I say.

It wasn't long before there was a knock at the door "it's me" I hear Pandora's sweet voice "come in" I say and she comes in with her father and the two children. I smile at them "thank you for looking after them for me" I say as Frankie puts my blanket over Lionel, who was still in just his underwear.

"How is he?" Pandora asks "I think he will be better after he wakes up and sees his little girl" I tell her Will grabs Jaycee out of Pandora's arms so I can hug Pandora, I hold her tightly "babe?" she whispers "I've stopped myself calling you it loads of times, but I guess it slipped out that time" I say "I think we should ditch our idea of waiting and just become boyfriend and girlfriend now, we could keep it hush" she says "we'll see" I said, we pull away from each other.
