Hunting Mate

Chapter Nineteen

Pandora and I go to Duh-licious to get smoothies and I nearly choke when she orders pancakes, I didn't order anything to eat I was full from Lionel's waffles "so was it anything serious?" she asked "one of the guys-" I cut myself off and look down at my drink "I'm sorry" her voice a gentle whisper.

I look up at her "anyway this isn't about them, this is about you and I. You are leaving tomorrow" I say she nods "I don't want to go" she says "I don't want you to either" I say she smiles at me a little "why did we come somewhere so open?" she questions my heart picked up its pace "what do you mean?" I ask "well, I wanted to go somewhere a bit more private so we could talk" she says "about?" I raise an eyebrow; she looks around "Coby" she answers.

I look down then back up at her "I don't want to talk about Coby tonight, I want to talk about what going to happen once you leave" I say "I go home" she says dumbfoundedly I laugh "I don't mean that... Ignore me I don't know what I mean. Are you looking forward to going home?" I question she shrug "a little" she says "I'm going to miss you though" she says I nod "I'm going to miss you too" she smiles and grabs my hand "runaway with me?" my eyes widen at her request "I will get arrested, it's illegal" I say she looks sad but nod "yeah"

"I know you said you didn't want to talk about Coby but how fast can he run? And for how long?" that was an odd question; I think for a moment, I've never actually put it to the test. I shrug at her, trying to think of the furthest I have ran without stopping "I've ran from Chicago to Philly before, it took me over a whole day but not by long" I answer she nods thinking "how about from here to my home?" I think for a moment "that's about the same distance, and if your next question is will Coby visit? Then yes of course he will but it can't be every night because like I said it's over a whole day just one day"

I caught on the scent on a wolf-no, make that wolves-they are unfamiliar to my senses "what's wrong?" Pandora asked me "nothing" I say I needed to be on high alert but wolves weren't my worry at the moment but I would have to let Alpha know so he can protect the pack if they want to attack and take over our territory, which would be an easy task as I was only picking up 3, unless they were the hunting one and the rest of the pack were somewhere else out the way.

Pandora rubs my hand getting my attention "is it business?" she asks saying business slowly so that I knew what she meant I nod "ok lets go and sort it out" she said "you sure this is supposed to be our day?" I say she shrug "I'm coming with you so we are still spending time together but if it's urgent, I don't want anyone in danger" I smile at her.

We leave and once we are in the clear I make her turn around so I can strip and phase, she climbs on my back hugging my neck as I run following the scent 'Alpha, there's new wolves in the area, I'm gonna check them out there's three' I let him know 'be careful, I'll send someone up your way in case' Joe said quickly before cutting me off.

I get close to them so that I can see them and I lay down to let Pandora off "Layton, can you get back in normal form so I can talk to you" Pandora says, oh she knows how to make things awkward, I breathe and go behind a tree and phase back "what is it?" I question she laughs little while blushing slightly "what's the plan?" she asked "Alpha is sending someone up here in case things get bad but I need you to stay here so they don't hurt you, and if I howl I need you to get out of here as fast as you can" I say her eyes widen "and leave you?" she questions "yes that's the plan, it won't take long for whoever from the pack to get here and help me out" I tell her.

Pandora reluctantly agrees and I phase back and go over to the other wolves slowly, they growl,warning me off but I stand my ground they are on my territory now 'what have you came for? What do you want?' I ask them one come in front of the other two and I smell getting their scent: three girls? Girl wolves are hard to find most are males 'why is that your business?' the one in front questions 'you are on my territory, I ask the questions!' I snap, one of them sniggers 'you're an Alpha?' I look down 'no, but I have a pack, where's yours?' I say 'we don't have one, it's just the three of us' the third one says, she was the shy one out of the three.

I look at them, girl wolves may just be what we need in our pack, they have the bite, they are more sly that us males we just go for the kill, they do the innocent look before the kill 'three female wolves, they are alone' I tell our Alpha 'bring them' was all he said 'you are on our grounds, you will have to go through our Alpha'  I tell the girls, the first one growls 'I don't take orders from the runt of the litter' wow, she has the bark as well as the bite.

I get closer to her growling 'you don't have a choice my Alpha wants you, so you will go' I say before she jumps and bites my neck, I say Pandora screams a little but I have to focus on this I shake my head fast and hard to get her off and bite her leg hard until she whimpers, I pull off her leg and look at them 'now I could drag you by your paw and make the others follow or you can follow me' they nod and follow me, I warn them not to touch Pandora or I will rip them into tiny pieces and have them for my next meal.

After I get Pandora on my back again, I head back to the barn leading the wolves, I go in and see Alpha and Beta in their wolf forms 'we have this covered you may leave' Alpha says I bow slightly and leave heading back to mine so that I can get back into my human form and back in my clothes, that Pandora had carried for me.
