-10 Days Later-

"I can't believe this is happening, Lola. I'm so-"

"Oh, you can't believe it? You can't?" Artemis shot him a pained look, but he didn't return it. "Really? Because I thought I couldn't believe it!"

"Lola..."

"No! Don't 'Lola' me! My name is Apollo. And YOU, Artemis, are the only reason I'm here. I have to go to a courtroom because you SHOT Daisy. We are about to face a judge because YOU didn't see that the animal you shot ten days ago was our FRIEND. So, you have no right to 'Lola' me."

Artemis turned forward again once she knew he was done talking to her. The memories from that day were burned into her mind.

Once she realized the lifeless animal lying on the forest floor was Daisy, she and Apollo tried everything they knew to save her. But, they both knew they were just prolonging the inevitable. Daisy was gone. If they didn't tell Greg soon, he would hear it from someone else. And he would be furious when he found out.

When Artemis finally told him the news, Greg was overcome with sorrow. Daisy had been a wonderful friend, and made a very adventurous companion for exploration when the twins were busy. But, he also felt waves of hatred for Artemis – the first time those waves had hit him since he was abused by his previous owners, and definitely the first time he felt anything negative for Artemis.

She shivered as the judge's voice brought her back into reality.

"You may be seated."

The twins were in the courtroom, and had been standing for the past minute. When the judge, Dr. Arnold Sharkeishaquan, entered, everyone was expected to rise. Next to Apollo was his lawyer – who, on top of being a highly educated genius, served as a remarkable wall between him and Artemis.

Perfect, he thought. Now I don't have to see her "Please forgive me, Lola!" face. I bet she's trying to look pitiful so the judge will lighten her punishment. I wonder if he'll know she's faking it. Or maybe he'll be a complete fool, like everyone else. I would really get a kick out of that.
