(John pov)

All is quiet in the bunker. John is lying in his cot staring at the ceiling. He can't seem to sleep. He just can't seem to shut of his mind, especially with what can be happening outside right now. His mind begins to wonder (again) to his family in South Carolina. John is currently in New York city. The crowded city isn't the best place to be right now. Now that more than half of the population consists of walkers (zombies).

He, Laf, and Herc all share the same safe bunker near the outskirts of the city. They where friends in high school and college until the world turned upside down. The three of them have been working together to survive for two months now. How fast time flies when you're fighting for your lives.

A faint rustling comes from somewhere close to John. He thinks it might be Laf or Herc moving around but both are fast asleep on their cot. John jumps up suddenly aware of what is happening. A black hooded figure is hunched over Laf and Hercs cot! IT'S A WALKER!! HE'S FEEDING ON LAF!! Or is it Herc? John retrieves his newly sharpened dagger and proceeds over to the walker, ready to kill. But what surprises him most is that it isn't a walker at all. It seems to be a young man barley 20 years old. That's no older than John. The boy looks up, his big brown eyes reflecting the moonlight. John gasps. The boy stumbles and attempts to make a run for it. But a hand shoots out from the cot grabing the boys wrist.

The stranger screams. Hercs eyes snap open and pulls the mystery boy and slams him down on the cot. Herc and the boy switching spots in an instant. Laf is up as well grinning down at the boy. Herc is on top of the boy restraining the boys wriggling form.

"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU? " shouts Laf way to loudly.

"Please I-I didn't, d-don't want to hurt you!" the boy sobs, tears streaming down his filthy face.

"ANSWER MY QUESTION!" demands Laf again.

"A-alexander my name i-is Alexander Hamilton," says the boy between sobs.

Laf speaks again ignoring John and Hercs presence completely.

"What in the world did you think gave you the idea that you have the right to be here!! Trying to steel our food!"

Laf waits for an answer from Alex, "I-I am out of food. I'm on m-my own a-and I just need something to hold me over until I-I can find some food of my o-own." Alex closes his eyes, body shaking with sobs.

John sighs. He feels so bad for this stranger, "Hey Herc, Laf, can I talk to you for a minute?"

Herc releases Alex walks over to John. Laf tells Alex to stay before making his way over to John too.

"What do you want mon amie? I was just about to tell the kid to fuck off and never come back," retorts Laf rather calmly.

"Uh Laf, doesn't that seem a little harsh? Shouldn't we at least give him some food or a knife or something! " Herc whispers to Laf and John, hoping Alex doesn't overhear.

John begins to fully take in the conversation. Laf and Herc want to kick Alex out. I know I don't know the kid but I feel some odd reason to keep him safe. "Wait a minute. You two just want to kick him out on the street?"

Laffayette sounds to be growing annoyed, "John, listen to me. He tried to steal from us. We can't trust some stranger. We just met him though you act like we've known him for years. I dont care how hot you think he is. We are not keeping him. End of discussion."

John stares at Laf, mouth open gaping at Lafs words. Probably looking like and idiot. Laf really doesn't want Alex here. And yes Alex is a stranger, but he is a REALLY cute stranger. John opens his mouth to argue but Herc beats him to it.

"Since when did you become such a heartless monster? I'm not saying we let him join us, we should just give him supplies."

Laf sighs, "Fine. But I'm only doing this beacause I love you."

John allows himself a sigh of relief. At least it's better than nothing. At least they weren't gonna leave Alex for the zombies. The three of them walk back over to Alex.

"So here is the deal kid. We give you some supplies and you never bother us again. Got it?" Says Herc very matter of factually.

All Alex does is nod in response. John hands Alex a throwing knife, one of their finest, and some food rations. Alex looks up at John. His beautiful eyes burning into his. John has to look away. John can't bare to see Alex so helpless. Alex wipes his face and dries his tears.

"Thank you," is all Alex says before heading out of the bunker, never to return. Even though John doesn't even know the boy, he cant help but hope he turns out okay.
