Who is Riley Matthews' new boyfriend?

While the internet has been abuzz with rumors lately concerning actress, Riley Matthews' relationship with Take On The World co star Charlie Gardner, it looks like Riley Matthews started dating someone completely unknown. For many fans, the news of Riley Matthews' new boyfriend came completely out of left field, but others have noticed that maybe the actress may have been hinting about her mysterious new boyfriend, prior to announcing it on instagram.

All that is known about her new boyfriend, Lucas Friar, according to his instagram account, is that he's currently residing in Texas. How the two met, is unknown. Most recently, Riley posted the pic above of her with her new boyfriend, in his home state of Texas. A similar picture was posted on her boyfriend's account and it seems as though it's the first time the two have met in person.

So what's the origin of their relationship? Just a couple weeks ago, we spoke with Charlie Gardner, who almost hinted that him and Riley were well on their way to being a couple, saying "Riley's a wonderful girl and I feel very lucky to know her, right now we're just friends, but I don't know if that will be true for long." Many fans noticed the chemistry between Charlie and Riley during their press tour and thought the two were dating, and we certainly shared their thoughts. This picture posted to Charlie's instagram certainly didn't help the rumors.

However, Ms. Matthews never responded to the photo, and the two haven't been spotted together since, so it seems as though any possible romance between them never existed to begin with. Our Polly and Harry (their characters in Take On The World) shipper hearts are crushed. We were really rooting for those two, but it seems as though Riley's heart always belonged to someone else.

Is it possible that the photo above was a hint to Ms. Matthews' growing relationship with her new Texan boyfriend? It's not the first post she's made hinting about Texas, just a couple days before posting the picture of her and her boyfriend she posted a picture of her in her window with the caption "when your body is in cali but your mind and heart are both in texas." Seems as though this new boyfriend has been under our noses longer than we all realized.

We wish we knew more about her mysterious beau outside of his home state, and the fact that he's a MAJOR Riley Matthews fan (who isn't though?), but as long as he makes our favorite little superstar actress, we're already a fan.

a/n: i know i know i promised that my next update was going to be lucas' pov of texas BUT i decided that i really wanted to kind of bring this story back to the fact that riley is famous, so this happened. as you can see, unfortunately, there are a lot of charlie/riley shippers in the world of this story and who knows MAYBE that will be a storyline at some point, i'm definitely planning for lucas and charlie to meet at some point. anyways i promise a real update (meaning the lucas pov thing i promised) will be coming v v soon! i hope you're all having wonderful weeks, my loves. lemme know what you think and i'll see you next time! ily all.
