"You can tell, can't you?" Moony asked as they got into Cara's car, a frown settled on her lips that would undoubtedly be there for hours— or until Raspberry Muffin turned up at her apartment to cheer her up. "That he loves them more than us." Cara remembered the way he smiled at the other three, how his entire being light up when they smiled back. Cara sighed.

"So what if he does?" Cara asked as she started the car, "We've gone over twenty years without him. Why do we need him now? Look at what we've achieved, Luna. You're a very successful YouTuber, and I've got my bakery. We've never needed him before, and we won't ever need him again."

"I just— A part of me wishes that he never left, you know? A part of me wishes I'd grown up with a Dad. A real Dad. Not Pete, even though I love Pete, and I wish he and Mom could have worked out, but—."

"I get what you mean," Cara interrupted, "Pete was the closest thing we had to a Father, sure, but he wasn't the real deal— and he wasn't around forever, either, but I kinda expected that. It would have been nice, I suppose, if Richard Mason had stuck around long enough to at least do everything properly. I wouldn't have minded if they divorced, or the baby that subsequently followed his disappearance. I would have been happy if he'd just stuck around for us. I know Ollie felt the same way."

"What about them?" She asked, "Our sisters?"

"I'm going to unblock Natalia and Rosalie on Instagram, but that's the only olive branch I'm willing to extend. If they want to be in our lives, then they can be. He— He can't. I'm sorry, I can't."

        "I know, Cara. I know."
