As Simon and I eat dinner, I begin to think about how close we are and how much the future holds. Without thinking, I ask, "You grew up in New York, right?"

He stops chewing, thrown off by my question. Slowly, he nods his head. "I know New York City better than I know London, and I know this city all too well."

Laughing, I get an idea. An idea I am quite intrigued by. "When is your next break from work?" I ask.

"I get two weeks off starting Saturday." He says, oblivious to the ideas going through my mind.

"Not that I'm complaining, but why do you only work for pretty much half the year?"

"Technically, I work everyday. I'm the head of the the whole business, so I'm not needed in the office as much as I am needed for big projects and other things like that."

"That's pretty nice." I say.

He smiles and looks at me with an amused expression. "You mostly think that because it means more time spent with you."

"Not entirely the reason, but yes, mostly." I say, not at all surprised that he can see right through me.

We finish dinner and I head straight for my laptop and calendar. It was time that the two of us went out a little farther than we usually do.

I look for flights to and from New York City for the week of Thanksgiving, book a hotel, and then shower and change into the pajamas I know Simon likes me in best.

Waiting patiently on my side of the bed, I hold a notecard in my hand.

Simon, in nothing but his underwear, traipses into the bedroom. Upon seeing me and what I've chosen to wear, which is nothing but underwear and a very sheer black shirt, he smiles. "I wasn't expecting that, but I am not complaining."

"I've got a lot more coming." I casually say, setting the notecard down in between us as he joins me on the bed.

He gives me a questionable look before picking it up and reading what I've written.

You and me
New York City
Yes or No

He grins from ear to ear, his face lighting up. Pulling me in for a tight hug, he embraces me and then gives me a gentle kiss on the lips.

"Baby, yes of course! I've been wanting to take you there for so long but I was always afraid you'd say no." He says with a joyous voice.

"Well, I'm glad you said yes, because it's already arranged. Flights, hotels, and everything." I smile back, already super excited for this trip.

"Why a hotel? We could just stay with my parents."

"The reason why I got a hotel is a secret." I say.

He smiles. "You always seem to have a secret." Pausing, he continues, "So we leave Saturday night?"

"Saturday night." I confirm.

Before I can say anything else, he passionately kisses my lips and his hands make their way underneath my shirt, caressing my skin.

"Don't you want to save this for New York?" I say in between a kiss.

He looks into my eyes for a moment before saying, "Why not both? And besides, you wore my favorite shirt. I should thank you somehow."

I laugh and then attach our lips back together, completely in awe over just how in love I am with him.

After the flight, which was pretty much just eight hours of me trying to distract myself from the frightening fact that I was on a plane, we safely drive to our hotel.

It's nearly midnight in New York time, but neither of us are even close to being tired because of our adrenaline. Besides, isn't NYC the city that never sleeps?

Simon guides me through the hotel, our luggage behind us. The fresh, crisp smell of a hotel room surrounds me as he opens the door.

Both of our eyes go to the white queen bed and our minds wander off to thoughts about what we'll do on this bed, besides sleep.

We look at each and smile. Words don't need to be spoken to know just what we plan to do.

Each of us hurriedly put away our luggage and shower, even though it's pretty much the middle of the night.

Magical things happen at night.

We climb into the bed, the anticipation building. Our lips attach to each other almost like magnets.

In between heated kisses, I say, "Consider the secret out. This is why I got a hotel room."

"Good thinking." Simon says, his lips moving farther down my neck and along my jawline.

Tonight, as well as this trip, is going to be the experience of a lifetime. And the best part of it all is that I get to spend it with the absolute love of my life.
