I can do this. It's what I've been telling myself for the past week. I can do this because I am- okay. Enough bull. I can't do this. I'm freaking out and I just can't do this.

"DAD!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. How could he do this to me? What horrible parent universe decided this was okay? My dad walked into my room with a worried expression his face.

"Lucia, what is it? Are you hurt?" The concern in his eyes was obvious. I rolled my eyes.

"No dad, I'm not hurt." The concern quickly turned to skepticism.

"Why were you yelling my name like a cat being murdered then?" I let out a big puff of breath and crossed my arms.

"I can't do this dad, I absolutely can not be the new girl who comes in a month after school has started. It's just not natural." I kept my expression as serious and steely as I could. He gave me a look that said 'are you fucking kidding me?' before he rolled his eyes at me.

"Get ready, drama queen. We leave in twenty minutes." And with that, he left me depleted of any hope that I could have gotten out of doing this. I quickly threw on my favorite high waisted, dark wash blue jeans, a red and black striped tank styled crop top and leather jacket. I finished off by applying my favorite combat boots and a touch of red stain lipstick. Good enough. 'Let's just get this over with already.'

After what seemed like an eternity begging to go back home the whole way, we arrived at the school I was sure was going to haunt me for years after being here, Knoxwood High. It looked like the type of place that sucked the life out of babies. Yeah, it was that bad.

"I hope you have a good day sweetheart." Dad hugged me and kissed the top of my head as if I was still five years old.

"Dad, stooooooop, please you're killing me. AND I make no promises, if I die here today I swear I will come back and haunt you." Okay yeah, maybe I overreacted, but STILL, he's making me go to school ONE MONTH AFTER IT STARTED. Like who even does that? He sat there with a dog face on just staring at me. It started getting uncomfortable.

"Okay, I'm going, please don't stare at me like that." I heard him chuckle as I got out of the car and looked at the school that would become my prison for the next year. I let out a huff of breath before composing myself and walked into the school with my head held high, and hips swinging. The school wasn't anything to big since this was practically the middle of nowhere. It was nothing like my old school back in Los Angeles. It was big enough that I didn't feel claustrophobic, but small enough that they didn't need security guards checking bags when you walked in the doors. I walked through the halls taking in my surroundings and gaining looks from everyone I passed by. I strode into the front office and put my hand on my hip.

"Excuse me, I'm here to see Mr. Wiles?" The secretary looked up from her desk and her eyes scanned me up and down before she gave me a warm smile.

"And who are you? Do you have an appointment?" My patience was slowly running out, I just wanted to get this day over with.

"My name is Lucia Michaels. I'm new and was told to speak to the principal first thing this morning." I plastered a smile on my face and waited for a response.
