4. Petty Misunderstanding

[Book]

We had chicken barbecue and stewed fish for the dinner. We ate under the roof of the shed beside the pool. Everybody had a great tme, while p' Fing, Fuse's sister, told us about her little escapade in the city.

Frame was beside me and feeding me a part of his chicken leg. I have been refusing it, but he was so insistent that it felt so annoying already, plus our friends were egging him on.

Ahhhh! It was like a One Versus One Hundred gameshow. I was alone and they all sided to my pesky boyfriend. Christina was giggling when I looked at him, beside him was Yok, who was also grinning as wide as Mo's. Seriously? Nobody wanted to be on my side?

I stood and stomped my way away from them, leaving them in complete awe. I saw Frame saddened with what I did, but I didn't want to blow my cover already. I was not ready. I love him, yes I did. And I would love him forever. No doubt with that. I was just unprepared to make our relationship public, more open to scrutinizing eyes. I guess I had to make him happy in any way I could. I knew he was happy with me and our love for each other. I knew he was. I knew that I could make him the happiest if we open up our relationship to our friends, but not for now, please.

Not now. Maybe in the future.

It would be enough for now that Fuse and Tee knew about us. He needed to be contented for that. We needed to talk about this thing anyway. Maybe later.

"Book. Book. Are you okay?" Frame asked me when he was near me. "I am so sorry. I won't do it next time." He looked so sad when it was not his fault.

"I am Frame. It's just that..." I rubbed my arm as I tried to confess, but stopped.

So what should I say? Of course I did not want to tell him my fear. I made him pout a moment ago, I did not want to sadden him even more.

"It's nothing. I just do not like being picked at right now." I said forcing out a smile. He smiled at me and pinched my cheek.

"Oi! Why is my wife so sensitive? Are you pregnant?" He whispered to my ear. What he said made me smile, but I hid it before he could see it. He was grinning wide at me- his signatured smile. He was so handsome!

"What are you saying?" I asked frowning. “What are you talking about? There’s no way I am pregnant. And you can never impregnate me. Ha ha.” I said giving him a lopsided grin.

"Why? Am I going to be a dad now? Yeaaaaah! Wohoooo!" He hugged me tight to the point that I find it hard to breathe.

"Noooo. What are... I... can-not b-breathe. I-Frame!" I was grunting as I let out those words. Was he planning on strangling me?

"Oi. Khaw thot, Book." He said, giving me a half smile, then winked.

Hmmp! If this guy in front wasn't so cute, I would have smacked him in the face. I held the giggle I was feeling and frowned even more.
The discomfort I have felt earlier was gone, with only Frame around, I was more free, more true to myself.

[Frame]

I was just so glad that Book’s mood was back to normal. He was laughing with the gang as he hung the LED lights on the bushes that surrounded us. Actually, everybody was so busy winding the wires with tiny bulbs on the shrubs.

We were helping the men that Mo’s parents hired to fix the lighting for tomorrow night’s event. They have already fixed the lights on the tree branches and were already casting us a faint glow.

We were so noisy. Christina was screaming as Ess and Wit forced him to hold the frog they caught from where they were. He hid behind Yok who was holding Mo to keep their balance as he kept on pulling him to shield himself from the two.

“Alright, you two. Please stop that now. Christina is so scared and you might get hurt if any of you fall on these shrubs. They're a bit thorny and there are rocks, you might trip on them.” Book said, hands on his hips, pretending to scold them. “We needed to finish this fast so that we can go to sleep early and also, we can enjoy the swimming pool tomorrow morning. They are starting to fill it with water, right Mo?”

Mo, who was standing next to him nodded his head in agreement. “Yeah. Book’s right. So let’s just do this fast so we can go to bed now. It’s getting colder already, thanks to my Yok here who is providing me warmth.” He then pinched both of Yok’s cheeks and laughed as the latter pinched his side.

I felt a bit envious about their relationship. Well, they were open, except when Yok’s mom was around. I knew Mo knew about me and Book, but he was good enough not to tell anyone about us. It was when we slept over their house, and in his room! In the future if I needed to connive with somebody, I already knew who to approach. Silly me! Aw, I was always silly and had great ideas. What do you say?

“Are you all okay boys?” Mo’s dad asked while we were resting under a shed. It was dimly lit with red and green LED lights. All of us hummed and nodded our heads. “Are you all sleepy now? The night is still young. So who’s interested for some bonfire?” He asked raising a hand.

Everybody raised a hand and cheered. Sure the night was still young. It was still eight, and the night was chilly although it was in summertime. Well, this was Chiang Mai. There were so many trees all around.

We found the ladies already seated on the grass around a pile of logs, Mo’s mom, aunt Mae, and p’ Fing, talking about something only they knew because they silenced when they spotted us coming.

“So, can we join on your conversation ladies?” Mo’s dad asked while trying to light the logs.

“Oh, no. It was just for girls. We do not want to embarrass ourselves in front of these fine young men here.” Mo’s mom answered as she reached for the hands of aunt Mae and p’ Fing, and the three of them laughed.

The warmth from the flame was so soothing. We watched as the flame danced on the cold breeze. I rubbed both my arms when I felt the wind seeped though my tee.

To our surprise, aunt Mae passed around sticks and some marsmallows from a plastic canister behind her. Whoah! I did not notice it earlier.

Excerpt from chapter xx. Sex On The Beach ▶▶▶

"I am horny right now." He whispered on my ear. Suddenly, his warm and intoxicating breath turned me on. Damn! I felt the muscle in between my thighs started to harden. Oh, no.

"The funny thing about tonight was that we were drinking sex on the beach earlier but we ended having sex in the toilet."
