It was a calm saturday morning. The tree leaves were gently swaying left and right due to the light spring breeze. Luna lay sleepily on her soft, pastel pink covered, queen sized bed, reluctant to get up and start the day. She looked at the time. 9:42 A.M. She knew she was eventually going to have to wake up, so she saved all the time trying to stay in bed and got up. She put on her slippers and headed down to the kitchen where her mother was making breakfast. Luna heard the sizzling sound of the bacon on top of the heated oil. She could smell the heavenly scent of freshly stacked pancakes. As Luna stepped in, her mother turned around to see her daughter. Her eyes were beaming. Her smile was wide. She seemed to be brighter than the sun. Luna's mom spoke.
"Ah Luna, you're awake!" She walked over to Luna and put her hands on her shoulders. "I have some wonderful news to share with you! But first I need you to set up the table for breakfast." Luna nodded to her mother's order and prepare the table for breakfast.
She went to the drawer and grabbed the blue and white patterned table cloth. She placed it neatly on the table, having to make a few minor adjustments to cover the whole table. The she gathered two forks, spoons, and knives and placed them neatly on top of a paper towels folded into the shape of a triangle. She put the plates and cups to the left of the utensils. Then she sat down and waited for her mother to place the food down on their plates so they can eat. Luna was also curious as to what her mother wanted to tell her. Her mom was happier than she had ever been. 'This must be some really good news,' she thought to herself. All her thoughts got pushed away as her mom pushed the pancakes and bacon onto her plate. Then her mom sat down across from her, like usual.
"Are you gonna tell me now?" Luna asked, eager to figure out why her mother was acting aloof.
"Yes, yes! Let me just pour myself some orange juice and I'll get straight to the point." Luna's mom poured the orange juice, took a sip, and looked back at Luna. "Now you know how you applied to the London Community College?"
"Yeah, why did I make it in?" Luna asked. 'That isn't really a big thing, it's just a community college,' Luna's mom kept speaking, losing composure as she said the final sentence.
"Well, yes you had, but that's not what the news is. You got a full scholarship to the College of Greenwich for 3D animation and Design." Luna nearly choked on her bacon.
"Wh-what? I'm not even that good at animation and by the way how did they see my anima--- Mom you showed them my animations?!" Luna was almost enraged.
"Yes, I showed them a 2D animation you showed me a few weeks ago and they loved it. They said that you should start enhancing your skills and move on with your talent, so they accepted you." Her mom replied.
"Which one did you show?" Luna started getting terrified that her mom showed them the terrible animation that she made when she was 15. The timing was off by a lot and her drawings were hideous. Fortunately, It wasn't.
"The one with the girl who was lonely, or something like that." Luna's eyes widened. Her eyes were the size of the moon.
"You showed them an animatic that was a work in progress? And even worse an animatic of "Only Girl in the World" by Rihanna. That's not what top notch animators create. And that is certainly not something top notch animators are looking for in their students"
"Well they must be if you got a full scholarship." Luna's mom retorted. Her tone calmed down, "That's besides the point anyway. My baby's going to a proper college and not a community college." Her mom got up and hugged her daughter tightly. Luna had decided to forget about her mom sending a poor animation and hugged her mom back, happy that she was going to college to enhance her education on animation.
