The first day of school in somewhere I don't know always does suck because it ain't easy to adapt with people I don't know in a day. But ready or not, I gotta carry on. I opened up my purple suitcase I hadn't put out before and I decided to wear blue shirt, skinny jeans, casual black boots and I did my hair done with pony tail. I took my backpack and went to the kitchen. I sat on the same tall chair as yesterday night. I took a glass of milk and I heard Mrs. Howard calling out my name from the front door.
"Let's go to school, Amanda."
***
Mrs. Howard dropped me in the front door of school. I walked in and suddenly all eyes straight into me. I slowly walked passing them and put my chin down because it was totally awkward. I tried to avoid eye contact with any one of them. Then I finally found my locker. I opened it and looked back to make sure that everyone had done with the first impression. Suddenly I felt someone touched my left shoulder and it was Mrs. Howard
"Amanda, before you get in to the class. Wait for Mrs. Aurora's signal, she will introduce you to your new friends. Don't be shy, okay?"
"Okay, Ma'am."
She left me alone and I put some books in to my locker then I closed it slowly. I went to the restroom and stared at the mirror saying, "There's nothing to worry about".
***
The bell rang and I walked to my class right away from the restroom. I peeked how the class situation was from the window and suddenly the door was opened.
"Are you Amanda Stewart?" asked her nicely.
She must be Mrs. Aurora
"Yes, I am." I grinned at her
"Please, come here. Don't be shy, okay? are you ready?" said her as she put her left arm around my shoulders.
"I think I am."
I walked in to the class and thereabout 30 students or less. They were all staring at me while I was walking towards the middle of the class in front of the whiteboard. And I finally stood confidently beside Mrs. Aurora.
"So, students. We have a new student here, she's a student exchange from Adelaide. Umm, dear can you introduce yourself in front of your new friends?" asked Mrs. Aurora nicely.
I looked around these new people around me. All eyes were straight into me, I took a step forward and took a deep breath.
"Hi everyone. My name is Amanda Stewart, I'm a student exchange from Adelaide. I'm glad I finally got this student exchange program and actually this is what I've been yearning for. I hope I can be friends with you all, thank you." I said as I took a step back after my short speech.
"That's good for the first impression. Can you give applause for Amanda?"
All students gave me applause and I had no idea what that was for because I thought my first impression was totally awful.
All of sudden, I heard a guy coughed and saying "Stupid!" out loud then he chuckled with a guy beside him. I was shocked and wondered who that was. Everyone looked at that guy instantly. He's blonde and has disgusting smile I've ever seen in my whole life. He smirked at me and I was completely annoyed by his digusting sneer.
"Mr. Howard, what did you say? Did you say 'stupid', didn't you?" asked Mrs. Aurora straightfully
"I'm pretty sure you misheard, I mean stunning. That was stunning, welcome to New York Amanda!" said him then she laughed with a guy beside him.
I looked at him normally not sarcastically instead. I wondered why this kind of guy does still exist on this planet earth, I mean 'Hello?' this is highschool. Making fun of a person is so childish. I feel like I'm sitting in the elementary school.
