Two guards soon come to my cell. They escort me to a fenced in field area filled with various obstacle courses. It is obvious that i was the last to be retrieved for my brother was already effortlessly gliding through the obstacle course. Not long after the guards uncuffed me I am happily greeted by Komagi Akahoshi, a kind fellow, with light blonde(almost silvery white) hair ; he too is a fire element. I am also Greeted by Moka Satoru, and Hikari Tsukai. Moka happily skips to me and grasps both of my hands in excitement, she is fifteen and has only been captive for four years. The most recent of us. Her childish personality keeps her in a constant cheery attitude. A sight for sore, hopeless eyes. I glance around and see Kyoto and Brazil are already glaring at me for no apparent reason. I break their gaze and look for my little sister. I find her kneeling in the grass, her back to me; messy solid black hair falling to her shoulders (she has just recently started mental training but somehow managed to ace at shape-shifting to one small animal, a snake). She doesn't greet me. I gaze up at the sky. It is a sad gray color; tainted by war. I cant help but to think of the last time I had seen the sky. At the time it was still blue not yet revealing the effects of war. I stand there dazed remembering; the air was warm but the wind brought a lonely chill. My thoughts thicken as I remember my last moments with my parents.
It was a warm day with an odd chill like this one, it was nearing twilight and we were preparing to go to sleep. That was when my mother saw the light in the distance. My mother..... she had a beautiful ageless face...this was before the war, the war had seemed to age her by at least fifteen years. Her once long flowing solid black hair was streaked in gray pulled into a loose bun; her once lively dark blue eyes that used to glow with excitement, were shallow and dead; as if all the hope had left her heart.
My mother quickly told my father, who looked at the lights and was the first to realize that it wasnt one light, but two! they were headlights! My fathers knowledge imeadiatly told him that the only ones with vehicles were either government officials or theives. The lines on his face hardend as he realized this. He quickly went to Mei and gave her to me then told me to quickly find Hiro. I did what i was told and found Hiro. Hiro was already aware of what was happening. He quickly Hid us in a trapdoor, under his bed. We then heard shouting and gunshots...
"Naa-chan" a tiny whisper-like voice disrupts my memories. I turn around to see Mei; she is holding a small dandelion up to me."l-look I h-have been p-practicing" she shyly stutters. I watch as she closes her eyes and her eyebrows furrow; the dandelion then suddenly burst into a bright flame before quickly burning out. "Wow so you can control fire like Komagi and I, that's wonderful!" I smiled at her. She returned the smile and ran back to the spot were I first found her. I watched her set ablaze bits of grass. My smile held as I thought about what her other element would be. I then turned my attention to Moka and Hikari. They were gaping at my brother as usual. I knew, and my brother knew, neither of us cared though. He felt both were much to young for him. I slightly shook my head in dissatisfaction then turned my attention to the guards. Just as I did, a young woman burst through the door. She rushes over to our instructor stopping Hiro's test. She then whispered something to him. I try to listen to what she is saying but fail, look to my brother and it is obvious he is listening in. The instructor and Hiro share the same concerned look. Our instructor then quickly leaves us, leaving the woman behind.
