I sat down on the couch and pulled out a book from my bag, it was The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks. I flipped to my page and smiled, "But I'm different now than I was then. Just like I was different at the end of the trip than I'd been in the beginning. And I'll be different tomorrow than I am today. And what that means is that I can never replicate that trip. Even if I went to the same places and met the same People, it wouldn't be the same. My experience wouldn't be the same. To me, that's what traveling should be about. Meeting people, learning to not only appreciate a different culture, but really enjoy it like a local, following whatever impulse strikes you. So how could I recommend a trip to someone else, if I don't even know what to expect? My advice would be to make a list of places on some index cards, shuffle them, and pick any file at random. Them just ... go and see what happens. If you have the right mind-set, it doesn't matter where you end up or how much money you brought It'll be something you'll remember forever." "Are you ready?" A voice asked making me slightly jump, I looked up seeing Derek. His hair was wet and his t-shirt was clinging tightly to him making his muscles pop out, my heart went faster and I stood up stuffing the book in my bag. "Yes. "I said above a whisper and he nodding going to his black car, I got into the passenger seat and strapped in. As he begin driving, I noticed he kept taking glances at me making me blush. "you should probably tell me where you live. " He said and my face went even redder. "Right, just turn right here, and it's the last house. " I said and he nodded, as we pulled up to the house the lights were all off. "that's not normal." I muttered and Derek shot me a look. "What's wrong?" He asks and I shake my head. "Nothing." I lie and he stiffens. "You're lying, so what's wrong?" I shoot him a glance and the corner of his mouth goes up "They usually keep the lights on, but it's probably nothing. Thanks for the ride. " I say and he gets out of the car after I do, he walks up with me. "I'll walk you in. " He said and I nodded slowly. I lightly tug on the door before it creaks and open, "Mom? Dad?" I call out but hear nothing, Derek flickers on the light and I let out a scream. My parents were on the floor with their throats ripped out, blood was everywhere. "O my. " I cried as my knees give out, a hand catches me bringing me close to their chest. "It's okay, calm down. "Derek whispers in my ear as he backs out of the house, I sob so more as Derek gets out his phone. "Isaac I need you to come down to Samantha's house her parents are dead. "They were still talking as I blank out, everything seemed to not matter anymore. I just witnessed my parents on the ground dead, "it's gonna be okay, let's go. " Derek ushered me back to his car and started driving again, this has to be the worst day of my life.
