Chapter Eleven
My breathing got heavier as I stood there staring at this huge dog/wolf which was currently looking back at me.
Shit! What do I do?
I heard that dogs can smell fear on people and right now I'm sure that my fear could be smelt by dogs everywhere. What if I moved and it came towards me?
What if it attacked me?
I felt my body starting to tremble as I stared at the huge dog/wolf. It looked intelligent, as if it understood. Without breaking eye contact the huge dark dog/wolf took a step forward.
Crap, I'm out of here.
I snapped out of my trance and began running without a backward glance. I ran as fast as I could, not caring where I was going. I needed to get away from that thing. I didn't dare look back to see if it was behind me.
I continued running, my legs hurting, it was not used to this. I wasn't a very active person, I was lazy and didn't care much about doing exercise. I turned to see if it was behind me but I couldn't see it but I knew it was there.
I turned my head back around and crashed into someone, hard.
"Hey, what's wrong? Why are you running?" A familiar voice asked. I looked up to find Josh staring at me in concern as he held my waist. Instead of answering him; I just leaned against him trying to catch my breath.
"Nina?"
"I saw a huge dog, wolf thing." I breathed out.
"You're not supposed to run if you see a dog, it will just chase you." Josh lightly scolded me.
"I know, but it was huge. I wasn't going to wait around for it to eat me."
Josh chuckled. "You think all animals are going to eat you."
"Because it's true!" I defended myself pulling away from Josh.
"Even a cat?"
I shuddered. "Cats are scary too."
Josh laughed making me smile a little. "Are you okay? Did it hurt you?"
"No, I guess I just freaked out a little." I told him, smiling in embarrassment.
"I miss this, I miss us." Josh whispered as my smile faded.
"Josh, don't do this." I pleaded, I didn't want to talk about 'us' anymore.
"I want you back Nina. I need you back. I made one mistake, one mistake. Why won't you give me another chance?"
"Because it's complicated." I sighed. "Nothing is the same anymore."
"I do anything, just say it. I'll do whatever you wa-"
"It's over Josh!" I snapped knowing the only was he'll back off is if I be firm and harsh. "We're never getting back together again. Ever."
"I love you." He whispered, his dark blue eyes watering.
I bit my lip and turned around so I was no longer facing him. I knew he loved me, still loves me. But this would never work out.
I turned back around to face him and took in a deep breath. "If you love me, you'll respect my wishes and leave me alone."
My heart tightened as I watched his face crumple and he gaped at me. "I-I can't do that. Anything but that."
"I'm sorry Josh, I really am." I walked around him without looking at him.
"I'm not going to give up!" He yelled as I walked away. "I'm not going to give up on us!"
