Chapter Twenty-Two

I burst out laughing as soon as he said that. "You think...I'm...I'm Gabriel's...wife?" I said in between giggles.

Luca frowned. "No and yes. You are now mates and mates in the human world is the equivalent of husband and wife."

I stopped laughing. "Wait you're serious?"

"Yes."

"Oh my god." I whispered suddenly feeling sick.

Luca was off the sofa and by my side in a second. "Are you okay? Your face has gone pale. Is it the baby?"

"I'm his wife? Urgh I'm going to kill him!" I groaned leaning back against the sofa. How the hell can I be his wife? Why didn't he tell me?

"I thought you were a little informed about what mates are." Luca muttered narrowing his blue eyes at me.

"Ehh, I lied. Gabriel didn't tell me anything." I told Luca sheepishly. "Sorry."

"That was not very nice." Luca grumbled looking offended.

"Sorry." I repeated. "So back to the mates thing, how do I undo it? I don't want to be married."

Luca observed me for a minute or so before he moved away from me and sat back down on the other sofa. "Why would you want to do that?"

"Err because I didn't agree to marry him and he didn't even ask me! Not that I would have said yes or anything."

"Do you not want your child to grow up with both its parents?" Luca asked.

"Gabriel and I are not together, it was just a one night stand." I replied back slowly.

"I know but it is only because you will not allow it."

"I just found out he's a Werewolf- well Lycan, I don't think I want to be in a relationship with him."

Luca frowned and shook his head. "You child will be one of us. You are being very selfish Nina."

I gasped. How on earth was I being selfish? I'm trying my best to remain calm and not freak out with all this information I'm receiving. "I am not being selfish." I defended myself.

"You are ignoring the bigger picture. You and Gabriel will always be linked together even before he marked you as his, you are carrying his child. Things will be much easier if you were to accept this."

"But I-" I started to say but Luca raised his hand signally me to stop.

"Nina let me finish." He said and I nodded reluctantly. "If it were any other Lycan they would have taken you away as soon as they found out you are carrying their child. Gabriel has been taking how you are feeling inconsideration and he is not rushing you. He is being extremely patient with you. He is trying his best to keep you happy even if it costs him his happiness."

Luca paused for a few seconds and his eyes found mine. "If I were in Gabriel's place I would not have been as lenient with you as he has been. As cruel as it may sound to you I would have taken you somewhere safe and kept you there until you gave birth, even if it meant kidnapping you."

I looked away from Luca as I started to feel a little bit freaked out. As I thought over what Luca said, I could help but feel extremely thankful that Gabriel didn't do that especially since I know he had so many chances to do so.
