Later that night, Lance didn't come back until midnight. Keith pretended to be asleep when he walked in, but reality was, he couldn't get over the kiss. How could he? It was so sudden, and not to mention, by the guy he has had a huge crush on since their first year of college.

Keith could hear rustling from behind him- Lance was probably changing. He heard the bed creaking, guessing Lance finally got into bed.

Lance reached for his phone and squinted at the brightness, quickly dimming the phone down. He turned his direction to Keith, then looked back down at his phone. He quickly typed a message and heard Keith's phone ding. Keith hesitated grabbing it, but he did anyway, reading the sender as "Dumb Roommate". He smiled lightly.

Lance: You awake?

Keith: No.

Lance: Dumbass

Keith: You're the dumbass.

Lance: Sorry for earlier.

Keith sat up from his bed and turned on the lamp. He sat upright against the wall so that he was facing Lance, who was right across from him. He didn't say anything though and instead typed away.

Keith: Already forgotten.

Lance felt his heart crushed. He realized maybe he did read Keith wrong and he missed it entirely. He forced a small smile when he noticed Keith looking at him, but he was tired of this. He put his phone down and looked at up, "I... I think I like you."

Keith's eyes widened, but he didn't want to get his hopes up, "I would hope so."

"No," Lance shook his head. He brought his knees up to his chin and hid his face, "I think I really like you."

Keith laughed, "Don't be stupid." He ignored the slight pain in his chest when he said that.

"I mean it." Lance replied back, and this time, Keith could tell he really did. He looked up at Lance who was trying his hardest not to look away. He saw the slight tint of red on his cheeks as he looked at Keith and waited for a response, but Keith didn't know what to say. Instead, he got his phone again.

Keith: I like you too, idiot.

Lance saw the preview message from Keith and tried to hide the small smile creeping on his face.

Lance: You should have said something instead of just standing there.

Keith: After the kiss?

Keith: What was I supposed to do?

Keith: You kissed me out of no where.

Keith: And that dream, you said it was gross.

Keith: What was I supposed to say..?

"I'm sorry." Lance said instead of texting. He knew Keith wasn't good at expressing his feelings, so he didn't mind, but he wanted Keith to know he was genuinely sorry.

Keith set his phone down too, "It's okay." There was silence in the room for a few more minutes before Keith said something again, "Lance, I actually... Really like you."

Lance looked at Keith, matching his gaze, eyebrows raised, "You what?"

"I've liked you since I found out you were my roommate."

"That's funny," Lance smiled, and for once it wasn't pain in his chest he felt, "So did I."

Keith chuckled softly, "What are you still doing over there? Come join me." Keith could see Lance's hesitation, but Lance got up and sat on Keith's face, sitting so that he was facing Keith. He unconsciously grabbed Lance's hand and held it in his, but Lance didn't seem to care. "I wish I had known sooner."

"Yeah me too," Lance pretended to sound annoyed. "You could have been my boyfriend by now."

"Pfft," Keith laughed- which made Lance smiled. How long had it been since they were both genuinely happy?

Without thinking, Keith leaned in and placed a long kiss against Lance's lips, both of them forgetting that it was late, forgetting that they could be using this time to study, or more importantly, sleep, but neither of them cared. It was the first time in forever that they conversed with another that didn't consist of awkward encounters and sadness when they saw each other.

Finally ending their kiss, Lance couldn't help but keep looking at Keith. "I think you can replace my coffee, I'm wide awake."

Keith grinned at his comment before kissing him again, "You're dumb."
