Chapter 2: Strangers

Alexander’s P.O.V

When I saw her there, sad, alone; I realized I don’t know anything about her except her name, I sprinted down and made my way to the park, she seemed to glow with the moonlight; which was kinda stupid of me to think… considering why would she glow? Anyway, she was holding a violin, but she wasn’t playing… she seemed kinda dazed, like she was in a trance; supposed I wasn’t thinking straight, I proceeded to hold her hand, she looked at me with shocked eyes, “What are you doing here?” she asked taking her hand back, I could see her blush as she looked away, “I live there, and I saw you here alone, it’s not good to be alone at night,” I excused. Why was I here? “Anyway, why are you here?” I asked her, she seemed startled, “I was, um… practicing my violin, I have a presentation at my family reunion next week,” she said quietly, with sadness dripping from her voice, I had the nerve to ask what her problem asked; but at the same time, my mouth was tight shut. Before I could speak, she packed the violin in her bag and stood up, “Good bye, see you tomorrow,” she bid me good bye and left, I got home and slept.

The next morning,

Like any other morning, I woke up; did all my morning rituals, said goodbye to my mom, drove to school, parked and walked casually to my classroom, I was shocked to not see Elizabeth there, was she absent? Sick?” I couldn’t stop myself from thinking of whatever could’ve happened to her, I wasn’t the worry-type but something about her just seems to always make me worry, the teacher entered and then I knew she wasn’t attending classes today. I made my way to my house after classes, checked my ‘Facebook’ and looked for Elizabeth Meyers, I added her and hoped for the best, in a minute she accepted and I chatted her, “Hey,” I typed, “Hi…” she replied, “Why were you absent? Are you sick?” I asked, there was a long pause; “Yeah, sorry… I’m kinda feverish, but I’m fine, are there any assignments?” I rolled my eyes, “It’s the second day of school, of course there’s no assignments,” “Sorry…L” I felt guilty, I made a sick girl sad, “Anyway, are you going to school tomorrow?” “Yeah, I feel better now,” I smiled, knowing she was okay made me happy, Man I’m going crazy~! I said good night and turned off my laptop and flopped into bed, tomorrow was going to be great!

Dream,

I was walking, I knew this was a dream because a minute ago I was safely covered by my blanket and was sleeping on my comfy bed; this was not a comfy bed. I tried to see where I was going but there were red lines everywhere and I noticed there was one on my little finger, I felt something tugging my line and I tried to find the person, animal or anything holding onto the other side, which was really hard considering many lines were present in the place. While the other person was tugging, I felt the string on my finger elongate but it tightened around my finger; I was worried, if “it” won’t stop tugging, I’m afraid the string’s gonna break. The tugging ended and the other lines disappeared, leaving a woman with long brown hair turning her back on me, she faced me but a lot of people went in between us and I didn’t see her face in time. I tried to push the people away but they held me back and surprisingly, they cut off the string; they left and the woman was nowhere to be found.

End Dream,

The next morning,

I woke up, the dream was affecting me and I didn’t think it’ll make me nervous... were I gonna lose the girl of my dreams? Was it a warning? These thoughts accompanied me until classes, Elizabeth sat next to me, and my eyes were on her but my mind drifted to the girl in my dreams. “Are you okay?” she asked to me, I snapped out of my reverie and nodded my head slowly, “Okay,” she said and returned her attention to the front. What was happening to me? It’s just a dream... I hope.

Dismissal,

I casually opened my music player and entered my car, I decided I wouldn’t be going home directly, I drove fast, probably committing some traffic problems but I didn’t care. I reached the highest peak of Scarlet City which was a Cliffside; I remembered the girl in my dreams, she looked older than me, had long, brown hair; yep, that was all I remember of her. I received a text from my worried mom 2 hours after, and then I decided it was time to go home.

I entered the house, got scolded, ate and went to my room. I searched Red Strings on a browser, feeling stupid and thinking that red strings would probably fill the results list with ordinary pieces of strings. A result caught my eye; it said Red Strings of Fate, I clicked then result and read the content of the page. The answers were according to East Asian legends. I let it rest and fell asleep hoping for another dream with her.
