Chapter 4: Best Friends

The next school day started out great, nothing bad seemed to pass my way and only good things came to me, I met some of Elizabeth’s male friends and we all tried out for the soccer team. I was walking to the canteen at lunch time and I spotted Elizabeth, I smiled and ran to her, “Hey,” I greeted, “Hey!” she replied, “Wanna have lunch?” I asked, “Sure, I would love to” she smiled at me, I escorted her to the canteen, we both got our lunch trays and got whatever was that we wanted. We walked to the garden, guess we both didn’t like eating inside a cramped area. We ate in silence and only the sound of gulps of water could be heard. “Hey... Alex,” She started, I looked at her, “Do you have anything to do tomorrow night?” she asked me, “No, I don’t why?” I answered, “Could you... you... maybe, be my date for my family’s reunion? I sorta told my parents I was dating someone to keep them from taking me from here... We could act just friends!” she explained embarrassed, I smiled, “Sure, I’d love to be your date,” I smiled than I blushed, “You know, as a friend,” I corrected. She laughed at me, the time went by and it was time to go home. “Hey, get in,” I suggested to her when I saw her walking down the street. She smiled, “Okay,” she entered the car and closed the door. “Hey, thanks...” she said to me suddenly, “What for?” I asked, “Well... You know, for uh, being a friend?” she blushed. I laughed, “You’re welcome,” “Hey, we’re here,” I said signalling she was at home. “Uh, thanks... do you want to come in?” she asked me, “Uh.” I was about to say no, but her cute eyes made me say... “Sure,” I trailed off. I parked my car and went inside her house. “Nice place you got here,” I praised, “Thanks, uh... make yourself comfortable, I’ll just get some drinks,” she said leaving me alone at the living room. “Eli, I’m home,” a voice called; a man, maybe 20 or something entered the living room, he looked momentarily shocked to see me, “I see we have a guest,” he muttered, “Oh, big brother, you’re home early,” Elizabeth said entering the room with some refreshments and some pastries, “Oh, yeah, this is Alexander, he lives not far from here,” she introduced me to her brother, “It’s nice to meet you,” I smiled and bowed, like how my mom taught me too. He nodded at me and proceeded to go upstairs, “Anyway, here,” she said handing me a glass of ice-cold lemonade. I thanked her and drank it, “Hey sorry I need to go now, see you tomorrow?” I said after a while, she smiled, “Sure, see you,” she escorted me outside; I got in my car and waved at her before I drove off. Let me just guess, we’re moving up.

When I got home, to my surprise, my mom was there, “Hey mom, you’re here early,” I said, “Well, I wanted to spend time with my baby,” she said like I was 2 years old or something. “Okay... so what do you want to do?” I asked, “Well, I got this DVD’s of you when you were younger,” she said as she inserted the CD into the DVD player, as much as I would hate to see myself crying, stinky and downright stupid; I did want to spend time with my mom....
