The dream that she feared to have... and yet wanted so badly....

She was sitting under an apple tree..... she looked down ; in her hand were candies. She looked right, and she saw the cottage she called home. She looked left ; sitting next to her was a girl.

She had brown hair ; the exact same shade of chocolate. Skin as white as the paper which covered the candies in her hand.....eyelashes so long and dark, they seemed to form an impenetrable curtain. Curtains which covered bright blue eyes.

Eyes which seemed to see right through her..... but she knew they would never be able to see anything at all.

Leanne

Leanne Wrigley

Sarah felt a smile spread across her face; a smile more honest, true and innocent than she thought possible. Leanne smiled back, revealing teeth as white as pearls. She took a candy and unwrapped it, revealing  bright red within. Strawberry. Sarah took it from her hand and popped it in Leanne's mouth. She laughed; they both did. The sound of flutes and bells overlapped in the clear country air.....

But it ended all too soon. Leanne got up, her face expressionless but eyes desolate. Something, someone was calling her.....she kept turning back, kept looking at Sarah....soon her face crumpled in desperateness as she turned her head back and forth, her face ripped by indecisiveness. Finally, she seemed to realize she had no choice.

Leanne bent over Sarah and whispered a single word. The tear that fell from her eye mixed with Sarah's tears as it fell on her cheek. She turned and ran.                                                                     Sarah got up and ran after her.......so long......so far.....she had to run, catch up with her, ask her why,

Why she whispered sorry to her. Why she was running  .Why Sarah was running.

Sarah woke up with a gasp. Silently she covered her face with her hands. She didn't cry though. There wasn't even enough strength  in her to cry .

The truth was Sarah had never stopped. She was still running

But she had never managed to catch up with Leanne.
