Chapter 3

Sarabi's pov

Years have passed, and it was now time for mine and Kiara's first hunt. Kiara was overconfident while I was nervous, thinking that I would fail and disappoint everyone. My sister was first to come out, and I was second. I walked up next to Rafiki, and he gave me a nod with a reassuring smile on his face.

"Sarabi." He said

 Everyone was giving me compliments and reassuring me that I would do fine. I got to my parents, and Mom walked up to me first. 

"You'll do just fine." She said while we nuzzled one another

I smiled at her before looking at Dad, who was looking at the ground.

"Dad?" I called, making him look at me, "You have to trust me to do this on my own, promise?"

He looked at Mom before looking at me with a defeated smile.

"Alright. I promise." He said

Smiling, I jumped over to him and nuzzled him; he nuzzled back before I ran to where I was going to hunt. I was hunting some gazelle when I accidentally stepped on a stick; I quickly ran after them, trying not to lose their trail.

I saw them again and carefully started stalking towards them, that was until my foot hit a rock spooking them. They made a run for it, making me run after them. I spotted something in the grass, making me stop running only to see that it was Timon and Pumbaa, I was glaring at them while I panted from running.

"Timon, what are you doing here." I demanded as they laughed nervously

"Uh... Shopping!" He said while walking towards me, "We thought a nice pelt for the den, some throw pillows, a little potpourri..." He started lying, but I cut him off

"My father sent you, didn't he." I said, "After he promised to trust me and let me do this on my own. He lied!"

That is the one thing I hate most of all; it is when people lie to me or break a promise, and my father just did both.

"No. He just doesn't want you to get hurt." He said

"I should have known that he'd never trust me." I said defeated. I jumped over them before running off, "I'll do this on my own! Away from the Pride Lands."

I ran away from Timon and Pumbaa, from my father, and the Pride Lands. I needed to do this by myself somewhere that my father couldn't send people to spy on me, I found the gazelles again, but this time they ran off without me making a sound.

I ran after them but immediately stopped when I saw that the sky was dark up on the hill. The next thing I knew, a hoard of animals were coming my way, and so was the fire. I quickly spun around and started running away in the blink of an eye. I was surrounded by fire, I was coughing cause of the smoke and started looking around for an exit to get out of here. 

"Huh?" I said

I squinted my eyes only to see a cliff that was high enough for me to jump, and the fire couldn't reach me; I quickly ran over there before making a jump for it. A little bit of the edge crumbled where my feet landed; I looked down only to see that the fire was growing.

I tried to climb up, but I slipped, I built up all the strength I had to pull myself up and try walking as far as I could. I took a couple of steps before collapsing to the ground, and my vision was going fuzzy; I heard someone walking towards me, making me try and lift my head.

I looked over my shoulder only to see a male lion; I couldn't do anything to stop him. I could barely move; the last thing I heard was him growling at me before everything turned black.
