The wolf standing before her collapsed back into the sand with a thud. She stared at it for a second before deciding to help him. She nudged him enough to stand again and she slid under him. He collapsed back down, this time she supported him and began to carry him as quickly as she could back to the house. Alma flew above them watching carefully. Alex managed to carry him to a barn at the back of the pasture. It was fenced off from the rest of the horses. She dropped him and pushed open the giant doors. Alma flew in above her and rested on a beam in the ceiling. Alex padded into a giant titanium cage. She nudged the door open and padded back out to the wolf. Carefully, she grabbed him by his scruff and drug him into the cage. He laid there exhausted. She turned back into her human form and slid a bowl of water into the cage then locked it. Alma squawked at her then changed to stand beside her. The wolf looked weakly up at the two naked women. "Alex this is a bad idea.", Alma whispered. "This cage can hold any beast who sits in it. I know because it once held me.", Alex said walking away. "Once he regains his strength we can question him and decide what to do with him.", Alex said stopping to wait for Alma. Alma sighed and followed her out. Together they closed the large doors. Alex pushed down the excitement of finally having another peculiar like her. Her eyes drifted to Alma, who walked ahead of her. Her eyes slid down from her mark and down to her hips. Just as her eyes began to venture further, Hooves pounded the earth nearby. They drew close. Alex turned on instinct and stood in front of Alma. Aaron came speeding over a hill and up to them. "What was that smell? I know you got it before I could.", He said as he trotted to a stop. Alex pointed to the barn. "A wolf. Like me. For now he is in the cage until we decide he's safe.", Alex said before turning and walking away with Alma. Alex wrapped a protective arm around Alma. Something about this new peculiar bothered her. Was it a territory thing? She was definitely questioning him harshly later. Once inside, Alex leaned against the desk while Alma looked for something to sleep in. Alex was wearing an oversized shirt with her hair tied back. She sat down at her desk and pulled out her laptop. She scanned through a few pages before getting on a watch maker's site. She scrolled through some pocket watches before deciding to custom design one. She smirked and typed in her exact order and sent it. She closed out of the page just in time as Alma came to sit on her lap. "What are you up to?", Alma said as she laid her head on her shoulder. "Quicker shopping. Pick out some stuff. We can pick it up from the mainland once it delivers.", Alex said softly running a hand up Alma bare thigh and to her waist that was covered in a nightgown. "You like silk?", Alex said smirking. Alma smiled and turned to the computer. Alex relaxed as Alma picked out clothes of all kinds for the children and then herself. Alma was changing and Alex knew it. She felt safe with Alex. Enough to let all of her worries go. She trusted that her children were safe on this island. Her island. No this was their island. Alex placed gentle kisses on her neck and shoulder, paying close attention to her mark. After about 30 minutes Alma closed the laptop and pulled Alex to the bed. Yes, Alma was changing, but so was Alex. The once laid back guardian of the children was assuming an alpha position. She would do anything for Alma and the children. She would die for them, kill for them. Alma was the missing piece to her puzzle. She stared at her slender face as a beam of moonlight shone in the window. "We will need to burn those blankets before the children see them in the morning.", Alma whispered sleepily. Alex pulled her close with a smile. "Of course darling." , Alex said and kissed Alma's head before sleep pulled at her. That night, a pair of golden eyes haunted her sleep. Fire roared around her as the shadowy figure stalked up to her. Is smiled widely, it's fangs flashing like silver. A deep growl resonated the air. Alex lay wounded and helpless as it walked towards her. It stopped inches from her face. "You lose. Tell your ymbryne I said hello.", the voice growled. The wolf snapped its jaws forward and Alex said bolt upright in the bed. Her breathing was ragged as she grabbed at her chest. She looked over to see Alma sleeping peacefully. An orange ray of sunlight was shining in through the window as Alex carefully stood on shaking legs. She decided to let Alma sleep as she crept out of the room and down to her old room. Alma was right about the sheet. Blood stained them everywhere. It wasn't deep enough to reach the bed. Simply because the extra padding on the bed from Alex's previous bloody mishaps when attempting to control herself and her inner wolf. She walked into the closet and pulled on a black v- neck shirt, black pants and her steel toed boots. Once her hair was pulled back, she slid her favorite dagger into her boot. She hesitated above her glock. She decided against it and strapped another knife to her hip. Satisfied with her look, she pulled the sheets and pillows from the bed and tossed them over the railing. Once every bloodied item had been tossed out, she slid a box of matches into her pocket and jumped off the balcony. She landed on the pillows gracefully. She dragged them all to the beach a few feet away and piled them up. Just as the sun had risen high, she heard a voice behind her. "Sneaking out of bed are we?", Alma said walking up behind her, now dressed. Alex turned with a smile. "I wanted you to rest.", She said brushing her cheek with her thumb. "Well I appreciate it.", Alma said leaning into her hand. Alex pulled away and walked to an old wooden cabinet under the balcony. Inside were old glass jugs of kerosene. She pulled one out and proceeded to dump it onto the blankets and pillows. She lit a match and dropped it onto the pile. It all went up into flames as Alma leaned into her. "This is quite peculiar.", Alma said. Alex smiled. "It is indeed, but you know what? That's perfect. As long as I have you.", Alex said looking at Alma who smiled. A long deep howl broke their happiness. Alex sighed. "Guess I have a wolf to deal with.", Alex said frustrated. She went to walk away but Alma grabbed her arm. "Alex", Alma said. "Don't worry. I just want to know where he came from and who he is. I won't kill him unless he tries to kill me. He could be dangerous and I am not risking your life or the children's", Alex said softly. Alma appeared to be thinking for a minute. "I want to come to. It will be a while before the children come back, so if you don't mind I want to join you.", Alma said letting go of her arm. Alex nodded and held out her arm. "Absolutely.", She said with a smile. Alma took her arm and they walked out to the far barn. Before they opened the doors, they could hear him pawing at the cage. Alex looked over at Alma and kissed her deeply. Alma slowly blinked and looked at her. "What was that for?", Alma said curiously. "Just in case.", Alex said as she opened the doors. She looked back at Alma once more before turning her attention to the pacing wolf in the cage.
