Alex leaned into Alma's neck. To anyone who was looking, Alex seemed to be kissing Alma's neck. "He is the alpha. They want me. The are coming for me Alma.", Alex said low enough for only her to hear. Alma tried hard to hide her reaction as Charles walked back to the beach. Alex leaned into her and took in her warm scent. Charles continuously glared at them. Alma didn't seem to notice or care but it bothered Alex. Would he hurt alma? Alex felt Alma's arms wrap around her protectively. "I won't let them.", Alma whispered back. She would have to tell Jackson to take the children to a cave on the far side of the island. Safe, hidden, protected. As the sun soon set and the fire was lit, Alex's tension grew. At sunrise, Aaron would escort Jackson and the children to the cave. They wouldn't attack tonight. Despite being vulnerable, this was their island and the wolves were no match for them. It would have to be a sudden surprise in the daylight. Alma rubbed Alex's back in an attempt to soothe her. Alex eased up some but her protective instincts were strong. The children began to pull out snacks and food. Millard pulled out marshmallows and chocolate for s'mores. "Millard, you all need real food before desserts!", Alma said motherly. The children sighed and grabbed the food Jackson was handing out. Mostly hot dogs. Alex got up and dug through the food pack to find some potatoes. She wrapped them in foil and carefully placed them among the embers of the fire. Aaron nudged Alex with his nose. "Do you mind roasting me a carrot?", Aaron asked somewhat excitedly. Alex smiled and handed the large carrot to Claire. "Sweetie, can you toast this for Aaron?", Alex asked the girl softly. She nodded and happily skewered it beside her hot dog. Every step Alex took, Charles watched her closely. It made Alex cringe and Alma boil. Alma stood up and dragged Alex into the woods. Alex was shocked at Alma's sudden change but followed her. Alma led her to a large bush. She pushed aside the branches to reveal it was hollow on the inside. The branches curved around a large patch of moss. Alma pulled Alex inside behind her and let the branches fall behind them. They were alone. In their own world. Alex collapsed into Alma's arms. She was confused and scared. Never had she needed to protect the children before. She was only sure of one thing, She would die for Alma and the children. Alma held her close, lovingly stroking her hair. She began to hum softly to Alex. Alex pulled back and stared into Alma's bright green eyes. "Alma you know they will probably be here tomorrow. I want you to hide with the children. I cannot lose you.", Alex pleaded. Alma smiled and stroked her cheek. "I will never leave you side. This is my home and those are my children just like they are yours. I will protect them just as you will.", Alma said. Alex huffed in defeat. Alma would always win any argument they had and they both knew it. "Tell me the plan and I will discreetly tell Aaron while Charles has his eyes on you.", Alma said. Alex nodded and explained the plan. Alma leaned in and kissed Alex hard. It was a deep, heart clenching kiss. These women would die for each other. Most importantly, they would die for their children. As they crawled from their hiding spot, a thought came to Alex. Would she have to kill them? She grabbed Alma's arm in fear. Alma turned to her worried. "Alma I don't know if I will be able to handle killing. The last time I did, I lost control. I could hurt you or the children.", Alex said as tears swelled up in her eyes. Alma smiled softly. "Darling I will not ask you to kill. You will not have to.", Alma said reassuringly. Alex nodded and wiped her eyes. She could not live with herself if she ever hurt the children or Alma. They walked back to the fire, hand in hand. Alma kissed her cheek and walked to Aaron. Alex walked over to the fire and bent over to check the potatoes. Charles stared hard at Alex as she bent over. He never noticed Alma whisper into the stallion's ear. Alma walked back over to Alex and ran a hand over her butt. Charles growled and Alma laughed as she walked back to her spot. Alex quickly followed her. Charles glared at them harder. Alex knew tomorrow would be rough. She hated acting so weak but she needed Charles to think she was the weaker of the two so she could take him off guard. She grabbed the ready potatoes and some little cups of butter from the bag and gave Alma her potato and some butter. The children had cooked them some hot dogs so they all sat down to eat. Charles had a couple hot dogs but stared at Alex. The children quickly ate and settled down to sleep. They spread out on the grass and settled down to sleep. Alma walked around them all and gave them hugs. The older children were growing suspicious of the way the women were acting. They would see their change in behavior. The children would protect their mistresses if they had to. No one fully new what was coming tomorrow. All they knew was Charles had something to do with it. Alex curled up against Alma. Charles, who was the furthest from the children, rested on his side and stared at the women. There was tension throughout the camp as the children began to fall asleep. Alex could not fall asleep no matter how hard she tried. She looked over to see Alma peacefully asleep. Her sharp ears could hear charles breathing. It was strong breathing. He was awake. She untangled herself from Alma and quietly crept from the camp. There was no one to save her now. She heard Charles get up and follow her. She kept herself calm as they grew further and further from camp. From safety. She soon found herself in a small opening in the trees. He soon rounded on her. His perfect white teeth flashed in the moonlight. "So why are you not ready?", he asked huskily and stepped closer. Alex put on her defenseless girl act and smiled shyly. "I have never been with a man before.",she said sweetly. He smirked. "Oh darling, don't worry. I can be gentle.", he said cupping her cheek. She shivered in disgust. "I just have one request, darling. Do not let that bird touch you again.", he said darkly and unexpectedly grasped her throat hard. He got in her face with a deep growl. "You are mine. Understand?", he asked. She nodded and fought the tears beginning to fill her eyes. He wasn't as dumb as she had first assumed. There was no way she could warn Alma now. He let her go and she crashed to the cold hard earth. "Be ready for me darling.", he said and left. She gasped for air and wiped her eyes. Rage overtook her fear and empowered her. She would not let him hurt her. She would protect Alma with everything she had. Even if it meant killing that mutt. She brushed herself off and stood tall. He messed with the wrong lone wolf. She slowly began to walk back to camp. Unknown to her, Amelia was crouched nearby and saw the whole encounter. Her guardian was in danger. They all were. She was not going to let him hurt anyone. Alex rubbed her tender throat. She knew there would be a bruise to explain in the morning. She crawled beside Alma and relaxed against her. Alma shifted in her sleep and pulled Alex closer. She finally made her decision. She would kill them all.
