Chapter 7: Fire
"Cause it's too cold,
for you here and now,
so let me hold,
both your hands in the holes of my sweater."

I could feel a chilly wind on my face, but the rest of me was warm. I was curled up and resting against something. My blurry mind was still weak and slow. Heat came from this moving thing I was against.
A haze still hung over my mind, the last thing I remembered was sitting on the ground, curled up in a ball. I opened up my eyes to see the sun setting. This couldn't be right, it was the middle of the day before. In the distance, I saw mountains, and I now noticed mountains all around me. When did we get to the mountains? I moved my eyes up to see Him. He was carrying me! I noticed I was wearing his jacket also. It was quite big on me. When he was wearing it, it seemed to fit perfectly. Just another reminder of how easy he could and has overpowered me.
A burning sensation simmers in my abdomen. I try to move to ease the pain and open my eyes more but my mind is still hazy. It pulls me back down to sleep and it's so hard not to oblige. Slowly and softly I fall back asleep. If only this was a dream.

When I wake up this time, I feel the ground beneath me. It's cold and hard, quite an unpleasant place to be laying. I look around for any sign of The Man, but it's too dark to see much. I hear someone shuffling around and then I see a spark. It catches on something and turns into a small flame. I watch the flame grow bigger. It starts to burn at a log and once the log catches fire, it becomes a decent size. I see The Man crouched next to the fire just watching it.
I sit up slowly, cringing when pain erupts in my stomach. My whole body aches but I'm too cold to care. The Man turns to look at me as I attempt to stand. My legs fail and I fall to the ground. He gets up and walks toward me. I watch his every step. I will not let my guard down this time. He reaches to pick me up but I smack his hand away. "I'm not going to hurt you. It's blatantly obvious you can't walk, the Lithos is just still in your system." The Man says. The burning pain in my wrists returns at the mention of the word
He reaches for me again but he stops when he sees my glare. I notice his eyes are back to their normal blue color, but they're not dull. There's almost a tiny shine to them. "Well do you want to freeze the whole night? Or will you let me move you next to the fire?" His hands are still reaching out for me, and I slowly put my hand in his, still looking into his eyes, waiting for the terrifying black to return.
He pulls me to my feet and then picks me up and carries me just like he was last time I was awake. He's no longer looking at me but I can't take my eyes off him. I trace his neck and jaw with my eyes and that's when I notice it. I don't know why I never noticed it before. It's a very fine and thin scar. It starts behind his left ear and then follows his jawbone until it turns and goes straight up, connecting at the corner of his mouth. It couldn't have been accidental, not with the perfect corner it made before it went up to his mouth.
