                        Nicole's POV:
I follow Sam and Alex out to the yard where kids have already gathered around and began to drink. Some danced to Fall Out Boy and others made out with whoever they could find. Awkwardly I stand between the two as Alex looks around, seemingly nervous.
"Are you okay?" I shout to her. She shoots me a smile and grabs one of the red solo cups.
"Yeah, just can't believe I made it into Stanford." Most people would be excited at an opportunity like this, but she didn't really seem like she enjoyed it. "Sammy, I'm gonna go wander around. I'll catch up with you later." He smiles as she walks away leaving us alone. He says something that I don't quite catch.
"Sorry, what?" He leans down so that he's closer to my ear.
"I said that I didn't catch your name earlier." I grab a solo cup and walk with him to wherever he's going.
"Nicole Rosenberg." I hold out my hand awkwardly and he chuckles, shaking it. His hands are giant, jesus.
"Sam Winchester." He looks down at me and points to Alex who's all the way across the yard. "Alexandria Singer. She's not really the most social person; she's not well with introductions."
"Is she looking for someone?" He shrugs.
"Don't know. So, Nicole, do you like your dorm?" I nod and brush a piece of hair behind my ear.
"Yeah, it's pretty cozy. I got this really cool twenty one pilots flag to put on the wall and I'm in love with it." Almost like it was on cue, ride starts to blare through the speakers.
"I love this band. My room isn't really decorated. I just grabbed a couple pictures and my comforter. I figured I wouldn't really be spending as much admiring my room since I'll be studying law." I can feel my mouth drop in shock.
"Wait, law? Damn, you must be a genius." He runs a hand through his hair and shrugs.
"I'm not really a genius, but I'm not dumb." He sits on a stone bench that's facing a koi pond. "Do you have family from around here?"
"Uh, not really. My parents died a few years ago. It kinda motivated me to get into here, actually." I quickly try to put it on him before he apologizes. "What about you?"
"I don't really get along with my dad and brother." He takes a sip of his beer. "My dad is obsessive and my brother is perverted." He shrugs. "I always felt like a freak for being normal." I chuckle at that.
"I know the feeling." He looks over at me and smiles softly.
"Wanna dance?" His brown/hazel eyes soften up and lighten the mood.
"I'd love to." He stands up and grabs my hand, helping me to my feet. Once I was up I wrap my arms around his neck and his arms lace around my waist.
They say the road ain't no place to start a family
Right down the line it's been you and me
We sway back and forth slowly as we remain silent for a few.
"Journey.." Sam laughs not so humorously under his breath.
"What's wrong with journey? This song is amazing." I tilt my head to the side to get a better look at him.
"My brother plays nothing but classic rock and Journey is his go to love song band."
"Sam, you're on your own now. This is your life and you can make your own choices now. You're able to do whatever it is that you want and you don't need to worry about your brother or your father." He nods a little unsure.
"Yeah I guess you're right." We continue to dance under the moonlit night. This will be a night to remember for the memories created between two strangers.
And being apart ain't easy on this love affair
Two strangers learn to fall in love again
