Angelo
Dinner went well. My son wasn't too much of an asshole toward me save for a few snide remarks here and there, two bouts of us roaring at each other and lots of hissing. Though it was kinda sweet how D'Angel called Sydney Ma all the time, I got to admit watching the two of them interact was hella cute.
I had dinner with them a couple of times since then. I really think D'Angel is warming up to me. The last time we had dinner he actually spoke to me civilly so I guess that's progress.
I still can't believe I missed these years with my son. The chance to be part of this little family. Sydney's warming up to me too, he even gave me a key card and unlock codes to his place.
I took a deep breath when I stepped inside, the air fragrant of Sydney and my cub. God I wish I could come home to this every day. I missed it. I had to go back to the Pride for a meeting but now that I'm back I don't think I ever want to leave again.
"Don't you dare roar at me young man!" Sydney bellows from the kitchen just as a cub's roar came from upstairs.
"That's it! You will take part in the school play and be the best flipping tree there ever was!" Sydney snarled and another roar was heard.
"What's going on?" I asked hanging my jacket on a stool.
"You better go up there and talk to that cub or I'm tanning his behind," Sydney sneers at me and I just nodded and took a detour up the stairs to D'Angel's room.
"What's up son?" I asked and frowned at the doorless frame.
"Ma's being a pain. He took my door and said I have to take part in the school play else I won't get it back," D'Angel mutters glumly and turned sad eyes to me, dammit! Cats can really strike your heart with those damned eyes.
"Why don't you want to take part?" I asked sitting beside him on his bed.
"Cause its lame. I'll be a blooming tree!" he bellows, "I'll look like a loser,"
"You want to impress somebody or something?" I joked nudging him with my shoulder and awkwardly laughed when D'Angel blushed. Oh My God! He's too young to be sniffing ass.
"There's this boy. He's like really nice and everything. I'll be stupid to ask him out as a tree," my cub pouts. What the hell? He's five, what does he know about dating?
"Okay. But if he's as nice as you say he is would it matter if you were a rock?" I countered.
D'Angel seemed to turn my words over in his mind and casts those cat eyes at me again.
"I've been a brat to Ma."
"Then go and apologize baby boy. Your Ma loves you and why didn't you tell him about this boy?" I asked curiously.
"Are you crazy? Ma'll probably stalk him and his family if he knows," D'Angel hissed though we both know it's true. We shared a laugh at Sydney's expense before D'Angel got off his bed.
"Hey."
"Hmm?"
"Thanks... Dad," then the cub runs out the room and I'm smiling like I just stole Christmas.
"What?" I could hear a strain in Lorenzo's voice and harsh breathing but I ignored it, probably training.
"D'Angel just called me Dad," I gushed into the phone.
"Well yipee yay and chocolates and fireworks coming out ya ass but I'm kinda busy here," my brother grits out.
"Eww. Are you having sex?" I asked, a laugh ready to bubble up.
