"What the hell is going on..."
Jungkook didn't really follow what Hee Ku was trying to do. She surely sounded very cold and serious. Not much different from the way she treat him normally. Well, he knew that she thought he was guilty and if she acted nicely with him he would find it very suspicious. It would be asking too much of her to be friendly around him...but...what the heck was that...he didn't think much before changing his clothes and did what she told him to do...
"Jungkook is surely taking his time to talk on the phone..."
"I'm getting him"- Jimin offered himself as he approached the direction where Jungkook supposedly went, he couldn't find a trace of the maknae...
"He's gone..."
"What?!"- Ae Suh jumped in surprise...-"We have to find him!"
----------------------------------------------------
Jungkook sighed in relief. He still remembered the path he used to sneak out the building to have those romantic dates with Yoon Ji. What? It took a meticulous tactic to keep a relationship for so long in secret. Only those kpop idols who are not wise enough to create ways of meeting the loved ones without dragging much attention from the paparazzi are caught. Those were good times that only he could recreate now with his memories...his little treasure of a love that could never come back...
He went to a small flower shop at the end of the avenue and waited for her. She was late...he felt someone tapping on his back. It was a thin woman...woman it's not the correct definition, it would be more appropriate saying that she were a teenager. She wore a classy style mixed with a more casual one...who the hell were she?
"Sorry for my lateness..."
"I'm sorry, I think you are mistaken me with someone else..."
"It's me...Hee Ku"
His eyes couldn't believe in that statement...just ...how? Where did the sassy attitude and formal clothes went?
"I know it's weird"- she began to blush and instinctively tried to cover her face-"But...it was necessary..."
"You sure look way younger..."-he realized what he just said and tried to fix his mistake...-"I mean..."
"I know...I look like a teenager...well, we have to go..."-she guided him to a staircase in the flower shop, showing a pretty packed apartment upstairs. It had a girly touch...very feminine and it had a classy feel too...was it hers?
"What's this place?"
"It's...it's my apartment..."-she answered as she tried to organize the piles of books and papers all over the place...she didn't have time to fix it earlier...-"Feel free to sit wherever you want. Sorry for the mess..."
He looked carefully at the place...it was kinda of nice, despite the girly feel...wait...was that a man's clothes? Well, she had her own life...it was none of his business...
"Why did you bring me here?"
She stopped doing what she was doing and turned to him...
"It is the best place to talk without being disturbed or heard"- she pulled the chair next to her and sat on it- "She told you about the Big Hit's plan of making a public statement, right?"
"She? You mean..."
"Ae Suh"
"Yes"
"I knew it!"- she cursed...
"What's wrong?"
"Don't listen to that woman..."
"Why? Isn't she a colleague of yours?"
"I don't really know why, but she is always trying to sabotage my work and make Su Goh-ssi fire me. So...I ask you to only listen to me...she might make things difficult for you since I'm involved in your case. I'm sorry to cause you trouble..."
"Oh...don't worry about it...we all have someone who desires the worse for us. Why didn't you talk about it with your boss? I think he might understand you..."
"I don't want to bother Su Goh-ssi any further..."-she prepared some tea for both of them...
"Wow...it's exactly the way I like!"
"Really? I'm glad to hear that"- she knew he the way he liked things. Yoon Ji would always talk non-stop about him over and over again. At some point, she subconsciously learned many things about him...she needed to be careful just to not make this too much...it would creep him out...it already did to her.
"So..."-he put his tea-cup on the table-"What do you suggest me to do about the scandal?"
"Just stay still for now..."
"But...isn't that going to make my public image even worse?"
"Well, for now, yes, later...no"
"I'm not following Hee Ku-ssi: what exactly is your plan?"
"Do you want to full version or the simplified one?"
"The full version...please..."
"Okay..."-she sat in a more straight position, facing him directly- "I don't know how much do you know about the legal system, specially for criminal cases, but we have two ways of conducting this kind of trial: by leaving up to the jury or by leaving up to the judge. If we choose the first one, we will have to convince, by emotional arguments, people who aren't familiar with the law. If we choose the second one, we will need to appeal more to the legal basis argument to convince a single judge..."
"And what do you think it's the best path to follow?"- his eyes got wider...
"Since the District Court is open to the public and you are a famous kpop idol, regardless of what we choose, you will be all over the news. In my opinion, it's better to have a jury, because we can kill two birds with one stone: if we can convince the jury about your innocence, the media will probably reach the same decision, so we won't have all the work to explain everything all over again. Another motive is that the facts we have until are not in your favor...are you following, Jungkook...?"- she noticed his confused look...was the language she was using that difficult?
"Jungkook?"- he found it weird. Damn it! she forgot to add the formal form...gosh...her head was certainly out of place in that day...
"Jungkook-ssi...forgive me..."
"Can I call you Hee Ku, then?"
"What's best for you..."
"Then it's settled!"- he smirked. He liked the fact that she was using a less formal language. It was making him feel uneasy...it made her distant and, if she was the one who would be defending him in court, he wanted to feel her more approachable. After all, the death penalty was a possible verdict...
Jungkook was about to leave when he suddenly turned to Hee Ku...
"Hee Ku, what is it exactly driving you in this case, since you believe I'm guilty?"
"There is a promise I must keep..."
