I waltzed around the filled streets, scanning its people.

I wanted to meet someone new, even if I'm not entirely close to them, you always need someone who's gonna have your back in the apocalypse.

I settled on the couple from earlier, the brown haired girl and the guy with the blue t-shirt.

I walked over, the girl caught sight of me in the corner of her eye and turned, smiling a beautiful smile.

"Hi, I'm Y/n, I'm new here."

'Great introduction dumbass...'

"Hey! I'm Marzia and this is my boyfriend Felix." She pointed to the guy, he waved.

'Marzia' had a cute Italian accent, it was so adorable!

"So how did you guys get here?" I questioned, making conversation.

"We came in together, we've known each other since the beginning, I saved her from one of those creatures when the virus started. She had come to Maine on a trip, that just so happened to be the day I came to visit Ethan here too. From then on we were practically inseparable!" 'Felix' spoke, rocking a Swedish accent.

I nodded and smiled widely, they were both complete opposites but managed to work out so well.

"Why are you here Y/N?" Marzia asked sweetly.

I sighed, thinking back to my dead family. They didn't deserve any of that...

I stuffed my hands into the pockets of my jeans and started to speak.

"My family.. well... t..they *cough* are... gone... and after that I..I got chased by a herd to... here I guess."

Marzia looked distraught, her eyes showed sorrow and pity, Felix just looked shocked.

"Damn that must be hard man..." he spoke truthfully, giving my shoulder a pat.

Marzia dragged me into a hug, I hesitated for a while before slowly and carefully wrapping my arms around her torso, relaxing my tense shoulder.

"I'm so so sorry..."

I smiled and we pulled away.

"We don't really know where any of our family is to be honest, it's pretty hard getting to Sweden or Italy in these conditions." Spoke Felix.

I nodded understandingly.

Me, Felix and Marzia talked for a while longer, getting to know each other.

I was halfway into my sentence about to finish my explanation about my previous job until I heard distant yapping, like a dogs...

Wait... DOGS?!

Marzia smiled and watched head as Sea- Jack came over to us with a cream pug and a black pug, both on tatted leashes.

They barked happily and wagged their little curly pig tails at the sight of Felix and Marzia.

I smiled widely, knowing that there is a chance to live on somehow.

Marzia kneeled down to the pugs, petting them and fussing them.

Felix turned to me,

"This is Mya and Edgar." He pointed to the little animals, the cream being Mya and, or course, the other being Edgar.

I kneeled just beside Marzia and began petting Mya.

Upon further inspection, Mya was missing an eye, it seemed to be clean and not infected.

"What happened to Mya's eye? If that's not rude to ask." I turned to Marzia, who's attention on Edgar was now on the one-eyed pug.

"Our friend, Cry, went out on a run and found Mya and Edgar being attacked, Edgar growled at the walker as it made its way over to Mya, who was shaking, poor girl." Marzia stroked her head.

"Cry managed to swipe Edgar while he was trying to protect his sister but heard yelping come from Mya. The walker had forced her into a bush of thorns, resulting it a few getting into her eye. Cry took care of the walker and brung the pugs here for treatment. Mya's eye had to be removed to prevent infection while Edgar was fine." When Marzia finished her sentence, I looked sadly at Mya.

"It's ok girl..." I stroked her back, she seemed hesitant but soon became more comfortable with me.

Edgar started to bark, jealously, so I gave him some attention with belly rubs.

"Me and Marzia adopted them." Felix told me.

I smiled up at him, knowing Mya and Edgar were in good hands.

"Ya know it was really great hearing story time but these pugs are a focken' handful, mind taking them off me?" Jack butted in playfully.

Marzia got up, taking Mya's leash from Jack while Felix childishly stuck his tongue out at him before picking up Edgar and walking off with Marzia to a house which I assumed was theirs.

"See you later Y/N!" Marzia called back and waved with Felix.

I smiled and waved before turning back to Jack.

He smiled and guided me to walk with him.

"So I see your meeting new people?"

"Yep" I responded, looking ahead.

"That's cool, I need you to meet Signe soon but right now, Ethan wants to talk to you." He lost a little bit of energy in his voice as he said those last words, it was noticeable.

"J..Jack? You sound so... unsure about this talk? What's wrong?" We stopped in front of a tall building, it sorta looked like an office but a bit messier.

He turned around and grabbed my shoulders, his beautiful sea blue eyes burning holes into mine.

"Please... be careful... don't... anger him, because honestly your a great friend and I don't want him to.. hurt you, kick you out or... or worse..."

I got lost in though for a few seconds, thinking what he'll do if I don't make a good impression.

I shivered a bit and looked back to Jack.

"I'll be okay."

He nodded and opened the door to the office, hesitantly.

All rooms of the office were stocked head to toe with ammo, weapons and food.

Except one door at the end of the hallway which read in scrawny red paint:

ETHANS OFFICE.

"Good luck." Jack whispered under his breath.

I nodded and slowly made my way down the hall until I reached Ethan's office.

The front door squeaked closed and I jumped hearing it bang.

I put a hand on my heart and sighed.

No turning back now...

I placed a hand on the cold, brass door knob and twisted it, pushing it open and stepping inside.

"H...hello?.."

Hey guess who's done a bit of writing?

This GUY!

Gal? Eh whatever.

Anyway, hope you liked this chapter, it's a bit of a cliffhanger I know but it popped into my head and I decided to write it down.

I'm feeling okay enough to write more often now.

Your support has impacted me massively and I thank you so much for respecting my opinions to leave writing for a while.

But I'll be writing as much as I can, I have two weeks off currently so I guess I'll stock up on some chapters of some books.

Welp until next time, cya
