It's been two months since I've been back, Quinn doesn't know, my car has been parked in front of her house and she's been living in it. I knew I needed to tell her today, I was walking up to her house and she walked out, yelling at someone -probably Josh or her mother- and went inside the car.
I walked up to the car and opened it, "hey, need some cheering up?" I asked, then she jumped on me, pinned me to the shut door of the car, started alternating between kissing and hugging me. "How are you back?!" She asked hugging me, "I don't know," I lied.
"I don't care, just as long as I can still do this," she said before she started kissing me again. When she rested her head on my shoulder, I told her," you can do that whenever, wherever you want, I don't care, I love you,".
After our make-out session we stood there enwrapped in each other's arms, she was still sitting on my lap facing me. She put her chin on my shoulder and I let it sit there, "Kota, You won't leave again will you?" She asked, "I don't know, I'll try not to," I replied, "good," she said pulling herself closer to me.
"Want to head to my house?" I asked her, "sure,"she replied, climbing into the passenger seat, I went to the driver's seat and started driving home. Once we were there we sat on the couch and she leaned on my shoulder. "I love you," she told me, "I love you too," I replied.
"Why did you risk your life for me?" She asked, "isn't that what lovers do?," I asked, "it is, thank you, I like living, well, not then, but, now I do," she informed me. I lifted her head and looked into her eyes. Then I kissed her, her lips were soft and her warm touch of her hand embraced in mine, the other on my shoulder.
I wouldn't dare move her anywhere, for she wouldn't try to move me. When she pulled away we just stood there and stared at each other, waiting for the other to do something. Then she just rested on my shoulder, "want to start the movie?" She asked. "Ok," I replied turning on the movie we put in while the popcorn was popping
After the movie ended, Quinn was asleep in my lap, move her or no? So I compromised. I lifted her head, moved and put a blanket over her. "Goodnight, Beautiful," I whispered before walking to my room.
I woke up to hear footsteps walking to my room and made out a silhouette with green eyes. "Hey, Quinn," I said into the darkness, "hey, Kota,"she replied. I moved over so she could have her normal spot on the bed. She got in the bed and faced me.
"I love you," she said, "I love you too, Quinn," I told her kissing the tip of her nose. She hugged me and I hugged her back.
When we both fell asleep we stayed that way all night.Until someone opened the front door. I moved Quinn's arm and got up to check, "hello?," I asked, no one answered. "Come out now," I ordered clutching the knife I had in my hand. "Hello Dakota," i heard a voice call out, "who are you?!" I yelled to the darkness, then I knew Quinn woke up so I blocked the door with my body. "I'm you, I'm fate, I'm life, I'm death, I'm the very dirt you walk on, what am I?"
"Is this some sort of joke?!"
"No, it's a riddle"
"You are Nothing, you are air,"
"No,"
"You are fire, fire feeds on oxygen, dirt has grass, grass burns, fire kills, fire lives, fire is part of fate, I was killed by a fired bird, You ARE fire"
"Correct, you have 5 minutes to leave
Then he left. The house started to burn,"Quinn!" I shouted running back to my room to get her, "Quinn, come on we got to go!" I said grabbing her hand, "why? What's going on?" She asked half asleep, "we need to leave," I informed her, "ok," she said starting to run with me.
The door, there was something in front of it, we couldn't escape, " Quinn listen to me," I began "yes, I'm listening, but, I'm so scared," she said. "You need to find a way out, we need to find a way," I informed her, she needed to be out first. "I'll go check the back, Promise you'll leave here soon! PROMISE KOTA!" She yelled, "I promise, Go!" I said, then she ran the other way, I ran around looking for a way out. Then I was surrounded by fire, "You are light, You're JUST LIGHT! Nothing more, Damien, NOTHING MORE!" I yelled into the flames. Then I remembered the wood of the house would be weakened, so I started kicking the wall trying to break it.
I looked into the flames and said, "goodbye Quinn, I'll see you again," then the flames grew higher and I was burning.
I was back as a black-and-red Phoenix. "Hi mom, and cam," there was another bird there, "Quinn?" I asked, "no, not Quinn, Dakota, I'm Damien, I'm fire," said Damien, "why are you here?" I spat, "because I'm here to tell you Quinn made it," he said, "but you're gone, we are glad you'll be staying with us for a while," said cam rubbing his Phoenix head on my neck. "Staying? Why am I staying?" I asked, "you need to watch over Quinn, you will go back, but you'll have to wait to be seen or go completely back," my mother informed me.
"How can I do that?" I asked, "you'll guard her, watch her, see her, hear her, sand love her," she explained. "So I'll be her guardian, Phoenix?" I asked, "no, you will be her Guardian, just her guardian, nothing more, nothing less," she said.
"But, I love her," I explained.
"Nothing more, nothing less," then they all flew off, leaving me.
