In Love and War with Jessie J
(Chapter 7) All of the lights
I couldn't take the awkward atmosphere any longer. I stood up and started to make my way out the door, but as I did, the guy got up out of his chair, on his high horse and blocked me saying "you're not going anywhere sweetheart."
But before I could say anything, Stephen stood up and defended me. Stating "just because you own my daughter, does not mean you own whoever she dates."
"No Mr Cornish. But it clearly states in the contract that anyone she decides to publicly date, has to take the questionnaire and we have to perform a full background check, including a health check too"
I don't think Stephen knew that was in Jessica's contract as he demanded to see it. The guy continued to explain he was more than welcome to join me and Jess, as he was going to take us straight to the headquarters to sort all of the paperwork. Until we'd sorted this, we was not allowed to go anywhere. So we all just sat in Jess' dressing room, waiting for her to return. I don't know what was taking her so long. Doesn't she just come straight back after she's finished the show? Suddenly, the door flung open. I jumped up anticipating to see Jess, I just wanted to give her a hug. So you can imagine the disappointment on my face when I suddenly noticed it was Holly. Looking rather distressed, she ordered "someone better come with me. It's Mark. He's got hold of Jess and won't let her out of the room."
Immediately everyone jumped up and followed Holly. She led us to a room right next to the stage, but the door was locked. All we could hear was shouting and screaming coming from inside. I felt my heart sink. I could tell from the way Jess was screaming that she was crying. And I hated hearing her like that. The guy that cornered me in to the room started getting annoyed and demanded for Mark to open the door. But he just wouldn't listen. There was only one thing for it. We had no choice but to break the door down. I was sickened when we got in there. Mark had Jess, curled up in a ball in the corner of the room. She was shaking and crying so much. And there was a table he'd clearly flipped over. Jess looked like she was trying to shield herself with it. I'm not one for violence but the thought of him upsetting Jess like this, made my blood boil. My immediate reaction was to run over and I can't believe what I done next. I punched him straight in the face and managed to floor him. I was straddled over him and just kept punching him repeatedly. The other guy had to drag me off Mark and I continued to scream at him "how could you do that, you're a fucking prick." I pushed the guy off me and said "let me go," then ran over to pick Jess up off the floor. I scooped her up in my arms and rested my forehead against hers. Looking deep in to her eyes, reassuring her "it's okay babe. I've got you now you're safe."
I thought this would make her calm down. But she kept crying so much. I continued making my way to the car, with Jess in my arms. She was so shaken up, she could barely speak. All she managed to mumble was "Summer, I need to go to the hospital."
Jess' parents were following closely behind and this caused them to freak out. They rushed up to us, Rose stroking Jess' hair as I carried her. "Has he hurt you Jess?" But there was no reply. Rose continued "we need to know so we can help you baby girl."
Jess nodded.
As we got outside to the car, fans flooded us and so did the paparazzi. The flashing lights were so blinding. I was struggling to see the handle to slide the car door open. Lucky enough Stephen managed to open the door, I placed Jess down on the seat and she let out a little scream, clearly in pain.
"Ouch" she mumbled.
"I'm so sorry babe. I'm trying to be as gentle as possible."
Jess had her arms wrapped around my neck and as she let go, she softly stroked my face and kissed me. Comforting me "it's okay. You saved me."
